Well went to the doc after all the blood work came back, and blood pressure is up and of course my weight!! it has been a while since I have seen my pcp but was due and had a cold I could not get rid of,

Ok so we talked about the weight first so we decided to go off the Lyrica and go on Neurontin, now I have been on lyrica for a long time, but the weight gain has just over powered my body so we opted to try this first plus blood pressure medicine for a month and see how it works out,

my question Is we did not talk about tapering lyrica and my stomach has been sick ever since, not really hungry but try to eat something to see if it helps,

cant talk to the doc till tomorrow and not sure if i should take a lyrica pill to taper but its been since thursday evening since i took one, is it to late or should i just wait i just cant stand the stomach nausea anymore....

any feedback will be great from anyone!!

thanks a bunch

Jamie

I would try to wean yourself off of the Lyrica. I am on it, and I know what I went through when I ran out for 2 days!!! It was horrible!! Have you been able to get ahold of the dr. oncall? I would try that too. I am having the exact same issues you are. When I went to the doc last Monday my blood pressure was 156/96!!!! and I have gained 25 pounds in about 9 months!! It is so depressing. It's like a catch 22...take the meds to feel better and gain weight or don't take and don't gain weight but feel like crap!!! I know where you are trust me. Please let me know what happens and how you are feeling! I will be thinking of you today!!

JamClarks, did your PCP start you on Neurontin? I would try to get a hold of the doc on call and ask them what to do. Your PCP should have laid out a plan with you on switching from one med to another, so I would definitely check that out with your PCP or the doc on call. I was only on Lyrica for a week and my PCP told me I could stop taking it and go back on my usual dose of Neurontin. She said that id depends on how long you had been on it how you went off of it. For the upset stomach in the mean time I would try some soda crackers.

Hope this helps you feel a little better.

May the sun bring you new energies by day,
May the moon softly restore you by night ,
May the rain wash away any worries you may have,
And the breeze blow new strength into your being,
And then, all the days of your life,
May you walk gently through the world, and know it’s beauty and yours.

I was on Lyrica for about a month and my PCP had me take half doses for a week, then a half dose every other day for another week, then stop. I was also tapering off Effexor and my withdrawal was awful, but I think that was more from the Effexor than the Lyrica. Lyrica seemed to make my nerve pain worse.

thanks everyone i am just not sure what to do, think Ill wait till tomorrow to call, just to see what to do, yes my pcp put me on it, and we tlked about so much during my visit of 40 minutes!! we just never talked about tapering I never thought of It since I never had to do this and with all things we talked about not sure how we missed that! I love my pcp, much more than my rumy he can only give me 5 minutes of his time every visit, gonna lay down for a while between, being way to tired the chills and the nausea not sure whats worse, I just hate to call if he isnt on call, when the other docs dont no me on the office, to much to explain!!

thanks everyone for your advice will ck in later

Tapering is always recommended for Lyrica.

Just thought I would mention you would have to tapper off the Neurontin

in the same manor. My phamacist said I could go into sezures if I just quit taking it.

That makes sense...Neurontin was orignally a seizure medication Lyrica is nearly the same chemically as Neurontin, so both would need to be tapered.
