FDA Releases List of Drugs Posing "Potential Safety Issues"

NEWSBRIEF: The FDA has released its first quarterly list of drugs that under investigation for posting "potential safety issues."

The list includes:

Cymbalta (duloxetine), an antidepressant also approved for fibromyalgia

Dilantin (phenetoin injection), an antiseizure drug

Seroquel (quetiapine), an antipsychotic

Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF) Blockers, such as Enbrel (etanercept), Remicade (infliximab), and Humira (adalimumab), used for arthritis

Humulin R (Insulin U-500), for diabetes

A drug's appearance on the list doesn't mean the FDA has found it to be dangerous, but means being examined for potential problems. The FDA has begun posting this list as part of the 2007 Food and Drug Administration Amendments Act.

Seroquel almost killed me a few years ago. It was nuts. I had spasms that would send me flying. I was in awful pain.

They put me on Seroquel in the hospital after my seizure. That was one scary drug. I got off it as soon as I was released.
