Anyone tried this yet ?

Had an appt. with my Rhuemy last Friday and the problems at the base of my neck are probably not Fibro but the Fibro doesn t help it either. He says it is arthritis and gave me a sample of Voltaren and a written prescription if it DOES work.

I am trying it for the first time this morning as my neck is very tender and stiff .

Anyone else used this or heard of it ?

TIA ... {{{HUGS}}} Marilyn

Never heard of it. Is it something you put on your neck or medication that you take?

Sometimes it's hard to walk, talk, or even know what's going on in my own mind. But as long as I have a smile on my face I can give a little bit of sunshine!

Hi Cori...

It is a creamy gel that you apply a mere 2 grams. (very little) to the tender sore area. It doesn t smell anything like linament or other muscle treatments. The box even includes small measuring strips for the correct amount. (something different)

It s been about 1/2 hour since I applied it. At first it felt very cool and now it is just a very gentle warmth in that area.

Like I said , this is the first application so don t know if it will help or how long each application lasts on a hurting day. Rhuemy says not to apply it more than 4X per day .

Have a happy day !!! Marilyn

Well good luck. I think a cooling/warming gel would feel nice. And I'm glad it doesn't stink! That's the worst.

LOL Cori ... I hear you on the ""stink"" ... My husband has ""arthur"" in both knees and one shoulder. The ONLY thing he will use is a lintament used on HORSES... purchased at a nearby farm store... recommended years ago by a friend with horses. The dr. says it can t hurt him but wheeeeeeweeeee, it DOES have a STRONG smell. Sometimes I can smell it in another room when he applies it AND ... the dog will leave the room ... *ROFL*

I thought this drug was an anti-inflammatory drug. I guess not as I just looked it up. They gave me this for a very painful tumor in the arch of my foot.

I had a terrible allergic reaction to it. I broke out in hives and had convulsions and then seizures before I even knew what was happening. I would have died if my daughter hadn't been here when I had the grand mal.

Please be careful and act right away if you notice anything wrong.

Sleepwalking,

Voltaren Gel is not a pill form drug. It is a gel/cream in a tube that you apply to the sore/tender area.

Here again, sounds like this is like some drugs...what works for one may not work for the others.

I ve used it on the base of my neck 3X now and it works well for me .

I can't handle cold at all, so I can't imagine what icyhot or one of those cool first rubs would do to me. I will go to my death bed singing the praises of Tiger Balm though. Nothing better on an ouch.

Auntie,

Yes, I understand that you are talking about a topical cream. That doesn't make it any less dangerous.

I saw a post earlier today about someone who had a terrible allergic reaction to Lidocaine patches. That would be the same ingredient in a Lidocaine shot.

I'm just saying be careful with new meds, supplements and topical agents. We all react differently, but with FM, we all seem to be super sensitive.
