I have been taking Clonozepam/Klonopin for sleep off and on for over a year now. I just weaned myself off of it because I needed more and more to sleep, and then I could not stay awake during the day. My doctor did not tell me that I needed to slowly go off the medication, I found out about all the problems with the drug from the internet. Now I am without sleep medication -- again. I do very well on Zanax. Anyone have any suggestions or personal experiences they can share?

Thanks.

Rosemary in Portland.

Xanax is similar to Klonopin in that you will need more and more of it to sleep as time goes on. Xanax also makes you tired during the day. I forget the mechanism by which it does that, but I'd recommend trying something less addictive, like a hypnotic - Ambien, Restoril, Lunesta, Rozerm.....something like that where you likely won't need to raise the dose to get to sleep every little bit. Just my two cents...
