Hi all. I am new to the group but not to fibro. I have had it since '94. I also have lupus. Unfortunately, my fibro has been largely untreated in the last 6 years and I am worse that ever before. Does anyone in the area (I actually live in Suffolk, Va) have a doctor they just love? Im looking for a good rheumy and internist. I am very frustrated with my current physicians. HELP!! Also has anyone had their legs swell dramatically when they started Lyrica? Thanks.

First let me say welcome to the group. I can't really help with a Dr. because I live in Florida. I can tell you there is a thread titled Lyrica that is talkingabout weight gain and swelling. No one has mentioned a dramatic swelling of the legs yet that I'm aware. However there is mention of caution with Prednisone. Don't know if with Lupus they treat with that. I also made mention of 2 diabetic meds that you have to caution with Lyrica, Avandia and Actos. I happen to be one of the lucky ones so far with the Lyrica I have not had much change in my weight but I haven't been on too long. I do also tack the Actos so I'm watching carefully. Hope that helps and hope to see you in the posts

Hi. Thanks for the reply. I do take 15-20mg of prednisone a day. What was the caution mentioned when taking pred w/ Lyrica?

it was related to increase edema to the point of cellulitis and having to top the med. they both can cause the swelling so when you combine them it can be worse. The thread you want to look for in under Medication and Treatment and titled Lyrica?. It's near the top of the list
