So, I have had some good luck in the last couple of days with my pain relief! I found a great message therapist who specializes in myofascial release and neuromuscular message! My doctor was able to fix my shoulder --- which hurt every time is raised it (thank god for cortizone!) but I have had no luck when it comes to the fatigue.... I've tried a couple of the sleep aide but then I become a drugged monster the next morning, so I am sure that the driver's in Colorado Springs Appreciate me staying off the sleep drugs.

Any natural or non prescription ways to help with it? I'm open to any new ideas!

Thanks All

Rachel

Yay, MFR!

glad you found someone in co. springs!

& really, really glad it helped!

who is he/she

no it really doesn't help with the fatigue for me either - I think that's what flexeril/nortyrptilyne is supposed to do.

but nothing in pill form is 100 or even 50% at least not for me

have you talk to your Dr. about sleep studies. I know I sound like a broken record but it can be helpful.

I haven't talked to him about a sleep study yet, he is trying to get me to tackle one thing at a time... a general problem of mine! I will talk to him about it.

My therapist name is Debbie, she works for Columbine Day Spa and Physical Therapy.

It tooks me days of searching every spa and therapy office in the springs to find her but she is amazing.

I went and seen her last night and that is the first time is 2 months I was able to reach behind me and not have a sharp pain going down my neck. I am working to have my insurance pay for the therapy but their out of pocket prices are really reasonable.

I can't help with natural or non-prescription things. But,I know I no longer need a med for sleep (except for the drowsiness the right amount of Zanaflex for muscle relaxation gives me) since I started being able to stay awake during the day, thanks to Provigil. My pain doc gave it to me to try because of the multiple fatigue issues I have. And once I found the proper dose, my nighttime sleep got good. So not only does Provigil keep me awake during the day, it added better night time sleep because I am not dosing off during the day. The downside is, it's considered the same level of controlled substance as hydrocodone except it's non-narcotic. And a lot of insurance companies will not cover it on their formularies or will only cover it if you have one of the "FDA approved" reasons for taking it. I'm thankful my ins. covers it and does not care why I take it. Otherwise, it's a little over $300 a month at my pharmacy.

I'm so, so, glad you are getting relief from MFR; remember to remind her to start gently

I personally feel everyone should try MFR or one of the other Biomechanical Therapies at least once. I'm also glad the price is reasonable. Just curious how much is it?

For others heres a list of all the Biomechanical options from Dr. Podell MD

Biomechanical (body work) therapies: The following body work therapies can help Fibromyalgia-- but only if done by a professional who understands the special vulnerabilities that are typical of FMS/CFS. Done too vigorously, these therapies can make you worse. Effective therapeutic massage and physical therapy techniques for FMS muscle pain go by several names: Structural Integration, Janet Travell, M.D.-style Manual Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release and Deep Connective Tissue Therapy.

regarding Provigal and price. it's also an additive to cosmetics. My daughter's old boyfriend the biochemistry major had Asbergser's & he was ordering the bulk chemical for very little money from overseas via the internet. A little sneaky but who can pay pay $300 out of pocket every month if your Ins doesn't cover it.

Exactly. I'd even consider it if it were less expensive than what I currently pay.
