So as most of you who know me know I have many things wrong and am disabled because of the auto accident. You also know with all the meds etc I've put on over 100 pounds in a year and shrunk 3" so now I'm under 5'. Like everyone else, I've had so many tests done that half the time they couldn't find their films/files/paperwork on them so many things were duplicated and even triplicated. My Doc had blood tests done recently, but for a different reason. He had a Blood Sugar test done to be sure I'm not going diabetic, but also had a Blood Insulin level done. On the Blood Sugar, everything is great, normal, well in the middle where I'm happily normal. However, the Blood Insulin level floored my Doc. He said he's never seen a blood insulin level as high as mine. A high figure is over 22, he said he's seen 'high' ones in the 30's. Mine is 69! What this means is I've developed what is loosely termed as Insulin Resistance. He said THAT is why I'm packing on weight. I'm glad that we know finally. So he put me on Metformin. He said it is one of the older diabetes meds but is the most reliable and trustworthy and will help my body to stop producing so much extra, but also to utilize what is being made. This was, to me, a fantastic breakthrough. Something I thought I'd share and see if maybe someone else who has gotten much fluffier also has this. I will let you know how I do on the Metformin.
