So as most of you who know me know I have many things wrong and am disabled because of the auto accident. You also know with all the meds etc I've put on over 100 pounds in a year and shrunk 3" so now I'm under 5'.

Like everyone else, I've had so many tests done that half the time they couldn't find their films/files/paperwork on them so many things were duplicated and even triplicated.

My Doc had blood tests done recently, but for a different reason. He had a Blood Sugar test done to be sure I'm not going diabetic, but also had a Blood Insulin level done.

On the Blood Sugar, everything is great, normal, well in the middle where I'm happily normal.

However, the Blood Insulin level floored my Doc. He said he's never seen a blood insulin level as high as mine. A high figure is over 22, he said he's seen 'high' ones in the 30's. Mine is 69! What this means is I've developed what is loosely termed as Insulin Resistance. He said THAT is why I'm packing on weight. I'm glad that we know finally. So he put me on Metformin. He said it is one of the older diabetes meds but is the most reliable and trustworthy and will help my body to stop producing so much extra, but also to utilize what is being made. This was, to me, a fantastic breakthrough. Something I thought I'd share and see if maybe someone else who has gotten much fluffier also has this.

I will let you know how I do on the Metformin.

Hugglys

I wish tons of love and hugs!

that gave me migraine headaches. I was on it for four weeks and that's how long the migraine headache lasted.

Oh man! So far I haven't had one, so that's been good. I seem a little more tired. Not a good thing as we get our grandkids next week. A boy (5) and a girl (3) and they could easily run the energizer bunny out of juice! lol I'm hoping I can store some extra spoons to use then.

Sorry it wasn't something that worked for you. Just another one of those that takes something different for one than the other. Don't ya love it!?

Pamela, does that mean you are or aren't diabetic? Sorry for your troubles, it sounds like you had enough before ... Don't you just hate going to the doctor sometimes? It seems like everytime I do they find something else wrong! My bf says that they're bad for my health

LOL My hubby says the same.

No, I'm not diabetic, thankfully. (I'm not a needle person!) It means my blood sugar is resisting the blood insulin so my body makes more and more insulin but it's not being used, so it stores up and makes the fatty layers fattier. (Not sure that's a word lol). So by getting the insuling to working right with the blood sugar, it will help relieve the weight situation and stop adding more to it.

Rayne it means that your body is producing enough insulin but it has forgotten how to use it. When the cells don't know how to use the insulin, then the glucose builds up in your blood giving you type 2 diabetes. I'm insulin resistant diabetic but I'm allergic to the Metformins. So I am on insulin injections to get my glucose level down.

I can't imagine the pain you must be in!! Thanks for the info. Pamela, I'm glad you don't have to do shots. I hope the metformin helps you shed a little fluff!

I like the term "fluffy" it makes me think of long-haired cats.
