I have a question about Flexoril. My doc perscribed it to me for my Cerebral Palsy related pain that adds to my Fibro/CMP. I am supposed to take 10mg 3x a day.

As soon as i filled the script i went to webmd and read the side effects as i do with everything i get. I read that it can cause constipation. As soon as I started taking it, I started having terrible stomach cramps. I notice if i dont take it, which i can hardly go without, i dont have trouble digesting my food. It feels like when i eat something it literally stops in my chest right in the middle and then sits there for about an hour, and then it moves down until i cant stop going to the bathroom. its so painful that i was in tears last night. Does anyone have this same trouble? I know i probably need to get something different. Maybe i should ask the dr about Zanaflex or something.

the problem with not taking the flexoril is that it helps my pain to where the ultram works better. it takes some of that CP pain away and i can function better, but then again i am stuck at home because of the stomach trouble.

what do you all think?

Thanks again!

Amanda

Medications do different things to different people. The side effects listed occur in people, more than just you. If this makes you have an unsettled stomach, there are other muscle relaxers to try out. I use Xanaflex, I like it a whole lot better than Flexeril. That's just my opinion b/c Flexeril never really did much for me. It's important to have a muscle relaxer, I feel. When I don't have any, my muscles begin to get really tight and then it seems like I experience more of those spots of increased sensitivity in my skin.

I have two problems with my Flexaril. 1. If I took it as much as prescribed (5mg twice a day and 10mg at bedtime)I would be extremely constipated and 2 I would be sound asleep 24/7. I have very low tolerance. I take it only when I can't stand it anymore and only if I can take it before 6pm because I feel hung over the next morning. Ok that's 3 problems but whose counting

Actually I have tried the 5mg but I still am not that with it the next day. I only have a 20 min. drive to work and it's all I can do to stay awake.

Hi all,

I take Flexeril, 10 mgs at bedtime. I don't really know if it helps or not. Sometimes I take one during the day, but rarely. One side effect I have from it is carb cravings that have caused me to gain about 50 lbs in the last year 1/2 I've been on it. I don't sleep well at night, even with this, sleeping pills and pain killers, my cortisol levels are screwed up, so my day doesn't start till noon. I feel my most awake in the evening.

Everyday is a slurpee day!

Welcom Cinnabon, I have never taken flexeril, but i do take Zanaflex and it is really helpful with no side effects yet. My back and neck dont get as tense and i dont get as many knots in my muscles with it. I hope this helps, soopergirl
