Does anyone think Lyrica works good?

I've been on Lyrica for several months now and during all this time, I've only had one bad flare! As far as side effects go, I'm not sure. I do seem to be really foggy, but I also know that FM did that too. I'm tired a lot, but once I take a nap, I'm fine. It feels like it works when I take the first dose in the morning, and I'm good until about 2:30, then I'm exhausted. If I take my second dose about 6PM, then I start feeling better and I'm up until about midnight, or longer. It doesn't KEEP me up that long, it lets me stay up that long. I take 150mg in the am and pm. Does anyone take a higher dose than that? And if so, did it help to increase? I was wondering that because it doesn't seem to be making me feel as much like my old self, like it did that first month. I need feedback from anyone who's been on it and not given up. I know a lot of the side effects are supposed to only last 3-4 months.

Thanks in advance.

Gentle hugs, Georgia

HI...as for me..... and I have posted this many times.....

I think Lyrica stinks.... it did nothing good for me.....the side effects were terrible.....

But it has worked well for others..... so it is one of those things that is up to each individual.......

Good luck....

And Welcome to the group/family

Craig

Hi Georgia,

I've been on Lyrica for a little over 3 mths. I take the same dosage as you. The 1st couple days it made me high so high, and a bit nauseous. After that everything was fine. I thought it was the miracle cure, for a mth or so, just like you. Now I've leveled out. I'm sure I feel better than pre-Lyrica, but I still have a lot of pain & fatigue. I haven't had any adverse side affects from it so thats good. Did this help any??

I too have posted many times about Lyrica--

I wouldn't be without it. I take 500mg a day and I want every mg. I felt an almost immediate response to lyrica. I felt less pain and when the pain returned and the dosage was recently increased--I had the same response again. It is a drug that works for me. I have have the nasty side effect of weight gain. It upsets me sometimes but if I had to choose b/t the pain or the weight I will chose the weight.

I realize that lyrica is not for everyone. The only thing you can do is try it. You have to discuss it with your doctor and have an open mind. Your body will let you know if it is not the drug for you.

I take lyrica 150mg at night and 75mg in the am and it has helped for my nerve pain but it did nothing for the muscle pain.

How can you tell the difference between them?? I do have a little less pain but most of my pain comes from muscle spasims I bet.

I've also posted this quite a few times.... I've been on Lyrica about a year and a half. It's the only thing that really helps my nerve pain from tarsal tunnel and RSD. I would not be able to walk without it. The pain relief is really GREAT.

The side effects have not gone away unfortunately - weight gain, extreme sleepiness,

speech problems, memory problems, dry mouth. I still get a little nauseous with it if I don't take a nap or go to sleep when I take it, but it's tolerable.

The positive aspects outweigh the negative for me. I guess you have to determine if it's the same for you. Good luck!

Thanks for all of the input everyone. It has helped me to know your opinions. I guess it either works great, or doesn't work. I know the side effects suck. As for the weight gain, I put on much more weight on methadone than I have so far with the lyrica. I'm hoping my doctor increases the dosage again. I too felt immediate results, so I think, if its going to work, you would know right away. Again, thanks for the replys. Oh, and Craig, I've been a group member for quite some time know but thanks for the welcome again.

Gentle hugs, Georgia

I would have to agree with Craig -- Lyrica made me miserable! But I know a woman for whom it has been a "miracle drug." Definitely an individual thing . . .
