As some of you know I returned from Texas just this past weekend after seeing Hampton's doctor. I too have been feeling better since I have been trying this treatment. (If you want more information see stuff under "Hampton's Doctor")

Anyways both she and I are on a low dose of DHEA. Right now I do think this is helping me a great deal. My energy is much better and I have an overall sense of well being that I haven't had in years.

DHEA is easy to get at health-type store or online.

If you are struggling with fatigue you may want to try it. It is the only thing I can truly say has helped with my fatigue.

HOWEVER- DHEA is not something people should take in high doses. Both she and I are on only 5mgs a day. Many places sell them for usually a pill of 25mgs. TOO much DHEA is not good either. It can cause aggression, hair loss, and heart palpations.

I have only been on it a short while but Hampton has used it for over 3 months.

DHEA is the precursor to other hormones and taking it can increase some hormones. I just know I have more energy now and I hope it continues.

If you want to try it ONLY get a 5mg pill at once a day. Read the possible side affects and make sure you don't experience them. Hampton nor I have had any bad reactions from taking the 5mgs but everybody is different. All I know is my energy is much better!

Ok ladies I guess I can post his website because Hampton did in the beginning. www.onallergycenter.com

Obviously we are not promoting it for any reason other than we personally went and both are feeling better.

Read up on DHEA if you want. Some holistic doctors are reccomending it for various things. I believe it DOES increase other hormones and some doctors perscribe more than they should because I read too much can cause some other symptoms- especially with some increase in testsotrone in women. That's why the smaller dose is important.

I don't know if it interacts with other meds but I suppose if you are on hormones that could affect them. Actually this doctor has perscribed for Hampton and I to take estrogen and testostrone because he believes our hormones are on the low side of normal.- this was determined after the blood test. I haven't had a chance to go to a compounding pharmacy to get these natural hormones yet.

You can look at his site. Cost-wise- I had gone for both the hormone and allergy testing in Texas like Hampton. In that they were out of network providers for my allergy stuff I had to pay my deductable and 70% after that. Total cost was about $1100. The hormone stuff which is not covered because it isn't something the FDA recognizes costs $1000. Both tests included getting these "antigens" that you are given to take home which will last a long time are included in that price.I know that he boasts that since the hormone antigens are his stuff- if you don't feel helped by them he will refund your money. He can't for the other tests because they go thru insurance. He has a radio program in Texas and he makes that claim even on his show.

It might not be realistic for everyone. However I've spent much more of "my retirement LOL" on other holistic doctors in the past and I didn't feel better.

I can tell you the drugs I've been on have included lexapro, ultram, flexril and kolonopin. I was on only a baby dose of the lexapro so I'm off it as of this week. I am taking much less of the flexril and ultram- some days none at all. I still take kolonopin- .5mgs at night to sleep better but I'm cutting part of that pill down so actually not .75mgs but less than .5mgs.

He had no problem with me taking the drugs I was on with the DHEA and the other antigens.

I have already said my energy is better and my pain is also about 50-60% better. I think some of my pain is from some gardening because I haven't been able to do much in a long time and I've felt so good I've done more than I have in over 4 years.

You can read what he thinks fibro and chronic fatigue are from and decide for yourself. If you are considering something drastic like going to Texas you can have some of the bloodwork done at your lab and let him see the results so he can say whether or not it might be something he can treat. Both Hampton and I did that before we made the trip!

If you have any other questions feel free to pm me and I'm sure Hampton would say the same.

I just checked out the website. This is really fascinating. Wonder what my husband would think about a trip to Texas.

My husband and I just got back last week. As I said before I don't know if it is for everyone but it's helping Hampton and I. I could almost cry when I realize that I actually can engage in something I enjoy and not need to lay down and hour later.

Just checking in before I make the trip back to ohio, been doing condo related business here in Florida and noticed the post. My original post on this dr was "Could he be right about healing fibro" you can search for it on the site, it also contains my progress after going to see him. As Meleggs said, You can pm me too if you have any questions, just give me a few days to get back to ohio. I've been pain free and symptom free since 2/4/08. His approach has changed my life and to know that Meleggs is doing better too gives me comfort in knowing that he is really on to something with his allergy and hormone therapy. Hugs to all!!!!
