Here are some links where you can get information on

Myofascial Trigger Point Release Therapy

BE SURE THAT THE THERAPIST ALSO SPECIALIZES IN FOLKS WITH FIBROMYALGIA - REGULAR MYOFASCIAL THERAPY IS TO INTENSE FOR FIBRO FOLK. IT'S IMPORTANT THAT THEY SPECIALIZE IN CHRONIC MYOFASCIAL PAIN & FIBROMYALGIA "OH YEAH, I KNOW ABOUT THAT" IS NOT ENOUGH! A BAD THERAPY SESSION CAN DAMAGE YOU

Therapy on the Rocks - John F. Barnes' Clinics

http://www.myofascialrelease.com/home.asp

If you go to one of his clinics (CA,PA,AZ,CO - CA is where I go) you're safe in being sure they are qualified to work with Fibromyalgia. If you get a name form the Therapist Locater on his site you should check for Fibromyalgia experience just to be sure:

Myofascial Release Network - Locater is located at the bottom of the page:

I just found this thread and I have to say, I miss the PT who did MFR on me. He was highly worried about hurting me because for me, he couldn't massage hard enough. And because I bruise easily...he left bruises. Bad bruises according to him, but bruises I didn't feel and never thought to look for. I guess they were bad enough that he felt a need to ask if an unhappy hubby was going to come looking for him. It takes careful working with the therapist to be helped. And if you tell them it hurts and they don't back off..they may not be right for you.

I'm being treated by this therapy. The physiotherapists i work with are all trained in this and it definitely works. It took about 5 weeks for it to work on one of my trigger points but it took away a 2.5 yr old pain. The point remains but the flares are gone. It's blissful. Now onto other points...

Hi, the last time I posted here I was scared of the trigger point injection.

I am a silly silly woman. I had the injection, and 2 more since then. Thank God they work great. I don't take many pills these days, the shots break up all the trigger point flareups.

I had a treatment called MFR, or Trigger Point therapy. All he did was touch lightly on areas from hips up to neck, and that is when I started having all the pain. I wondered if the treatment had set off the Fibromyalgia somehow.

At my new physical therapist appointment yesterday, I saw a chart on cranial therapy and it was very interesting. I think I'll take a pic of it next time I go in. They can do myofacial, jaw, back of the head, trigger points on the side of the head, etc. It looks amazing and I would like to try it. Is this similar to what you are talking about?
