"All I can say is that this has been the best place ever. It has been six to seven months since I joined, and I have learned so much. Hi everyone, We just got back from the pediatric rheumatologist and she didn't have very good news.

My baby girl (she's only 2) has some form of Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis! She has severe pain and many joints swollen.....her knees, fingers, ankles, toes, hips and back. They think she may have some type of leukemia that has to do with joint swelling. They also think her back and eyes are inflamed. They are doing many tests to figure out what is all wrong and what is the best treatment. We spent many hours at the childrens hospital.

We have to go back in a few weeks for more tests and another check up. She has to get into an eye doctor for children ASAP to check for this inflamation. She could end up losing her eye-sight if it isn't treated right away.

I'm just a basket case right now. She is in so much pain and I hate to see her hurting. I can't imagine her having to deal with this for the rest of her life.

Does anyone know anything about this? Please pray for her. Thank you, Chris

I am so sorry to hear about your little girl. I don't know much about RA in children except that it does happen and there are meds they can give her for the pain. I am sending up prayers for both of you.
May the sun bring you new energies by day,
May the moon softly restore you by night ,
May the rain wash away any worries you may have,
And the breeze blow new strength into your being,
And then, all the days of your life,
May you walk gently through the world, and know it’s beauty and yours.
A Native American Blessing

Thank you all!!! They did put her on some medication for the swelling and pain. She will start tomorrow and it will take several weeks for it to start helping.

I just know that there are several different types and that I have to rule out alot of different diseases before they can say for sure what kind it is. She has so many positive symptoms. The specialist said that the blood tests taken before were incomplete and not very helpful.

There are so many unknnowns with this! It can last forever or go away forever. It can be severe or hardly noticable.....hers is considered severe right now b/c of all the inflammation.

Thanks again!!!! I so appreciate it!!

I am so very sorry to hear this. I will be praying for her and your family.

It's hard enough when an adult has a diagnosis like that, but when it's a child....dang that is just to hard. And being Moms it's hard on us because with can't "fix" it.

Be wise and dignified like the swan: he maintains his composure, staying unruffled on the surface, while always paddling like crazy underneath.

hey chris

i am sorry to hear that as well! i work in surgery and we have alot patients who have RA i personally haven't seen one as young as your daughter, but the people who come in to have joint replacements were born with it and the age ranges are about 20-30year olds. How long as she been having these problems. Did she get tested for any other autoimmune diseases or meningitis? If she truly does have RA just like Fms you have to find ways to try to manage it. I will pray for you and your family and i wish you the very best. Do as much research as you can. My doctor didn't diagnois me with fms i researched it myself and told my doctor soon after i switched dr's and with out me saying anything about what i thought i had to the new doc 6 months later of testing she diagnosed me. What i have accepted about docs it that they aren't any smarter than me or you they just studied medicine with the same books that are available to us all. Oh but they can write prescriptions we can't oh and they make more money oh well
