There is a lot to be said for alternative health care now adays. Many people may even be using some form of it and not even know it is considered "Alternative Health Care". Things like the following fall into that category:

Chropractic Care

Massage/Hot Stone Therapy

Accupuncture/Accupressure

Herbals and supplements

Hand held massagers

Water foot baths/massagers/soakers

Aromatherapy (even scented candles, incense, linen sprays, bamboo infuser sticks, etc!!)

Cds/cassettes, etc for relaxation

Yoga

Tai Chi

Meditation

Holistic Healing

Believe it or not, in many States, even a Psychologist or Psychiatrist is considered Alternative Health Care!

What I would like to know is, how many people are or have used any form of alternative health care, and if there is much "audience" who wants to know more about Alternative Health Care and different forms of it including things like meditation, Holistic Healing Technique, etc.

Thanks for your replies!

Pamela, My sister is into and has done almost all of the above. If the alternative fails, then she goes to a regular doctor. Sometimes the alternative works and sometimes it doesn't. I was going to a chiropractic knesiologist and although he was helping in some ways, the fibro part wasn't one of them. I would go home in tears because of the pain he put me in when working on the fibro. I felt it didn't help so I quit going. The town I live in isn't very big so that means there aren't any alternative doctors practicing here. The closest one is 60 miles away. I wish they had accupuncturists here. My sister gets so much relief from her aches and pains from that sort of treatment.
May your troubles be less, Your blessings be more. And nothing but happiness come through your door!

Yes, I've heard a lot of good things about accupuncture/accupressure. In our closest town (800 people) we don't have anything here either. But I'm working on a new section for the website and it will be about alternative care. Of course just like dr's and meds, somethings work for some people and don't for another. I'm still in research phase, but it is a work in progress. I'm hoping that it will at least offer some relief for people when Docotring isn't doing it all, etc.

Thanks for your reply!

Big Warm Hugs

I had accupuncture. I went for 5 sessons. She told me it would take 4-8 before I felt anything. It felt wonderful while I was there. It was so relaxing, I fell asleep when she had me lay on my stomach and I missed the whole other half. I had quit because I could not afford it. I wish I could go back. For any of those who have a chance to try it I highly reccommmend it.

That is such a shame to find something that helps and have to stop it due to finances, but I know exactly how you feel. I wish healthcare was more affordable, and that everyone could have or afford to have good insurance. Those of us with no insurance (that's us) can't afford the insurance and can't afford the Docs, not if we want our utilities and food on the table. A shame it is!!

So when you went for treatment, how long did the feel good last? A day, a week, 2 weeks? That would be helpful to know too for people who may be looking into trying it, if there is a qualified person in their area.

I appreciate any and all feedback on anything anyone has tried or wanted to try, etc. Thank you for your help!!

Warm fuzzy hugs
