Does anyone else here homeschool their children? Homeschooling is what keeps me going. I would love to chat with someone else who has fibro and home schools.

I homeschool, but I have to say, my kids work pretty independently. We don't have a strict schedule. I just say "you guys need to do some school work". They do and we're good.

I used to be much more organized (when I only had three kids). Now I have a hard time with being sick all the time, working from home and trying to keep up with school and housework. Gosh, no wonder I am tired all the time. lol

I am thinking abt homeschooling my son. He is 16 yrs old and has learning disabilities all his life. He has a 2nd grade reading level and i feel the public school has failed him. I also think he may have fibro because when he gets home from school everyday he is wore out and so tired. He is getting frustrated with school and im afraid he will end up quitting school if something doesnt change. I just dont know where to start with the home schoolig, any ideas??

There are many places that sell curriculum materials. Also, many public school systems use the virtual schools which are free to many people. A good place to start with gathering information would be the HSLDA. Google them and read about the requirements in your state.

I homeschool my two youngest,I have homeschooled them and their older brother for the last 3 years. It is harder now that I am having a flare, but it helps that they are older(teens) and are pretty independent. They are doing an online high school that I found online that is free to us. Try Googling(sp?) "homeschool" it brings up some really helpful sites. Good luck and feel free to PM me anytime.

And then, all the days of your life,
May you walk gently through the world, and know it’s beauty and yours.

I started homeschooling when i couldn't handle going because i got sick. I loved it, i got so much more out of it than my public highschool. I schooled through American School of Correspondence. I did it through the mail, i would study and then send in my quizzes to the school and they would send them back graded and the instructors would write helpful comments, even though it was through the mail it was much more one on one interaction with the teachers than my highschool. the website is www.americanschoolofcorr.com you can request information from the website if you would like

I homeschooled for a few years and loved it but my hubby and I were having some problems at the time and when we moved we put our two older in school. They adjusted fine but get bored a lot. they are very bright and are not challenged much. My youngest starts kindergarten in the fall and I would love to home school her but my husband doesn't think I can do it because of my health issues. I would love to homeschool my daughter who starts middle school in the fall too but my husband and i can't agree on it. so they all will be in school in a few months and I will be all alone.

I wish that I would have been able to home school my kids, but there was no way for me to do that. They are much smarter then I am.LOL
