Hi Casty

Honey, I am so sorry you are dealing with stupid docs and fleas. Poor puupy dog.

I use Frontline Plus on all my dogs and cats. Four altogether. They all (except Binx) are so tiny I buy a dosage for large dogs (much, much less expensive) and the vet puts the dosage on a cup that has a syringe in it for me to give correct dosage. This will last me 3 dosages (3 months) for 4 animals and cost about $50.00, I think?

Before I was able to get the FrontLine my babies were getting fleas. Someone told me to use Dawn (original) dishwashing soap on them. I did and it worked great. Within a few days I was able to get the flea med.

Good luck sweetie

We bathe our dogs in Dawn and it is the best flea soap we have ever found. Very cut dog. HUGS River

Hi River

So you are up, too? I hope you and hubby are doing well.

I was suprised at how well Dawn works. I now keep it on hand for bathing my dogs even though they have Frontline on them.

It smells good, too.

Hugs

Cute flea bag, Casty ~~~ and I m sure he s not any happier about the fleas than you are.

We are also battling them this year not to mention our Beagle also has skin allergies so that makes him itch also.

Buddy (Beagle) is on his second dose of Prednisone and a prescribed anti-itch med along with 2 Benadryl daily. Not to mention, flea powder and baths ~~~

The vet said that, because it has been extremely dry in our area this summer, that is why the fleas are so bad.

Buddy never leaves our yard so we re pretty sure the pesky fleas have come from a neighboring yard or outdoor neighbor cats snooping our yard have brought them to Buddy . Sad

I hope you AND your flea bag get relief sooooon ~~~~

When my daughter was young she'd always cut through the flower beds to get to the front door. Our cat was a strictly indoor cat but fleas love bark dust...my daughter kept giving my cats fleas.

Morti had a dose of Frontline before he came to live with me...no fleas and with no kids in the house, he might stay that way Smile

dawn huh? Thanks for the tips. I got some store brand stuff and I hope it works. What a complete pain this is. My hubby is in a horrible mood because this is not how he wanted to spend his 3 day weekend! What can I do tho?

oh well. The washer and dryer are getting a heck of a workout.

I think the fleas came from a neighborhood cat (King Louie) who jumped in my daughters bedroom window a few weeks ago.

Love,
Casty

We had a round with them in early summer. One of my cats peed on the futon and I put the mattress outside in the sun the next morning, brought it back in that evening and within a couple of days one of my cats had scratched his neck raw. The vet told us then that it was turning out to be a very bad year for them.

I have only seen one or two here this year, but the stuff I like the best is Adams Flea and Tick. I did have a problem with one cat who was apparently allergic to the stuff, but it's safe for cats and dogs, kittens and puppies.

In the absence of a commercial product, Avon skin so soft works wonders as a bug repellant as well. I dilute it with water in a spray bottle and I even spray my horse with it; it helps keep the flies off her!
