Hey everyone! Saw this article and thought I would pass it on. I am not on Lyrica myself as I have heard about WAY too many side effects. However, I suppose it has worked for some of us.

DOW JONES NEWSWIRES

Pfizer Inc. (PFE) said Wednesday new analysis confirmed its fibromyalgia management drug Lyrica "was significantly more effective than placebo in reducing pain in patients with the chronic pain condition."

The New York drug manufacturer said Lyrica helped reduce pain in patients regardless of the presence of symptoms of depression and anxiety.

The results are from a retrospective, pooled analysis of data from three placebo-controlled clinical trials (8 weeks, 13 weeks and 14 weeks long) of Lyrica in more than 2,000 fibromyalgia patients, Pfizer said.

The only thing I can say is that it has work wonders for me. I wouldn't ever give it up. I have gained weight. I know I am not happy with that, but I need the lyrica. Neurontin did not work for me.

I've been on it for 5 weeks and no effect. I'm wondering if my dosage is high enough? I have gained 7 lbs. in that time. Yikes! No other bad effects, but nothing good either. If you don't mind, what is your dosage?

I think anything would be better than a placebo.

a placebo is a preparation which is pharmacologically inert but which may have a therapeutic effect based solely on the power of suggestion.

Lyrica doesn't work for as many people as the hype suggests in my opinion.I have read through several Fibromyalgia groups and have found that Lyrica doesn't help half of them just a small number of the people in the groups.

I'm glad it's around though for those it does help.

I wonder if whether or not Lyrica helps has anything to do with the origin of one's fibro???

I wonder if the folk's that Lyrica has helped are the ones who have fibro due to nerve pain...perhaps secondary to trauma????
