What a cute story. You should get a Hero award for saving the fish's life.

Right after my husband and I got married my son won a goldfish at the fair. I didn'th think it would live very long so I put it in a large glass jar in our house and guess what...it lived and lived...for two years. I called her Miss Fishy. She greeted me every morning from her fishbowl. (I bought her one by then). I really loved that fish. Anyway, I had my husbasd build her a lovely little pond. We bought her several fishy friends. Max, Fe, Fe, Fo, Fum and Flo and ED for the neightbor next door. We had lilly pads and even had two turtles my daughter had brought from the beach the year before named Fred and Dorie. Anyway, one morning I went out and looked over at the pond and said,"Good morning Mis.....Oh, my God Miss Fishy" There was only a tiny bit of water in the bottom of the pond. Miss Fishy was gasping for air. I grabbed a big bowl and started scooping up fish into a bowl of water. Then I called my husbands workplace and told them it was a family emergency and I needed him to call home right away. My husband called right away and I told him that he tried to murder Miss Fishy and that she had no water, there was something wrong with the pond and I was not putting her back until it was checked. I told hin I needed an aquarium and water right away. About 30 min later her came my husband carrying all of the supplies. Later on we found out that he had bumped the hose that pumped the water back into the pond,

My turtles parted ways. They stayed togeter for two years and then Dorie left Fred. I always told him she was hussy, but I think the next door neighbor kids stole her and put her in their swimming pool and never put her back. She was only little.

Back to Miss Fishy and her friends. These fish lived for two more summmers. I made my husband bring them in during the winter and they lived in the basement in big plastic containers with their pumps and their plants. I wouldn't even let him separate them because he didn't know who had bonded

with whom.

The last summer of Miss Fishy's life ended when my husband got the pond all ready and did not let the water set long enough before he put the fish in and he killed Miss Fishy. I brought her in and put her in a fancy glass jar and stayed up with her until she took her last breath and then I wrapped her in pink tissue papper and put her in a little white box. I then went up stairs and woke my husband up and said, "Look, Look what you have done to poor Miss Fishy." I didn't talk to him for days. I had the pond filled in and the other fish adopted outn the next summer. It just wasn't the same.

My wonderful daughter tried to have that 99 cent fair gold fish mounted--bless her soul.

Can you believe it--all of this even before I went on medication.

Now that I think about it, Kaze could have done CPR and saved my precious Miss Fishy.

Wow Sandy, I don't know if I will ever look at my fish the same way. I know that just because of what happened to Heimlick I always seek him out first. You must have a very understanding husband. Mine would have just said "you got to be kidding" Hats off to your husband for trying!Do you have any other animals? Kaze

I really enjoyed reading the fish stories, Kaze you are a hero! We had 2 turtles, Coolwhip & Frisbee, they lived quite a few years. We got them when my daughter was 5 yrs old. One lived for about 14yrs & the other 13yrs.

My husband buried them in our backyard, the kids even put little crosses at their site.
