Already doing all those that I can and thank you for the suggestions and reminders (fibro fog has been horrible lately). I can't take NSAIDs, so inflammation is always a hassle. I have to be selective of when and where I put heat or ice because of the multiple issues but it does help if I can stagger the two over the different pain spots. I've been soaking in the tub when possible and also trying to do some walks in the nearby salt water river which is about the perfect depth to ease some of my joints. I'll be glad when all the hurricanes, T.S.s and T.D.s are over with so I can make better use of the river. It helps me relax just to sit and watch for the dolphins and watch my little doggie play... not to mention the beautiful sunsets...

I've always loved cheese and crackers so that's making the whine a bit easier to deal with *lol* At least I can still laugh at times.

Thank you all for the understanding and reading my vents. I pray I can do the same for all of you when needed.

Midnyte,

I hope that this time goes by faster for you. I am sorry that you are in so much pain. The one thing that makes my pain go away is being in a pool. Do you have access to a pool? I am pray for you and if you need to talk you can PM me.

Midnyte,

I understand that you have to physically get the original prescription because certain ones cannot be faxed to the pharmacy. However, I don't think that nurse is correct about not being able to mail it to you. Mine has mailed two of them to me because it was too hard to drive an hour just to pick up a piece of paper. She mails it and I take it to Walgreens or CVS (I use two pharmacies to get the lowest prices).

Of course, it is possible that the nurse at my doctor is wrong, but I know I have had them mailed to me. Hope you are able to get it straightened out soon.

As a side note, I find the weather here in Florida makes my pain much worse. Hopefully you won't have that problem too.

My doctor's office is across the street from the pharmacy. If I or anyone in my family can't get to the doctors to pick up the prescription someone from the pharmacy will go and get it. Anyone can pick up prescriptions at my doctors as long as their is an ID or I call ahead that someone else is coming. This way I don't have to wait 20 minutes to fill them. I just go and get them.

Barbara,

Yes, I have some access to a pool but can't swim I can't seem to find a time that there aren't ppl there. I can't stand anyone splashing my face or pulling me under and can't relax if anyone I don't know extremely well is near me. That's why I'm trying to use the river near us more because I can get a good bit of walking without getting too deep. I have found the warmth and saltiness of it to be relaxing and any bouyancy helps a great deal on my joints.

Kat5150,

Actually my pain is less here than where I lived in NE GA before. I think part of that is because I had no where to go for water exercizing and the effects of other issues made the pain worse. As for the nurse, I really think she just didn't want to help because we've had some issues before. My pain management office in GA and the upcoming office here in FL said they have mailed scripts in cases like this. I couldn't get her to understand I didn't want them called in but mailed for several minutes then she said if they can't call em in, they can't mail em.

I realize I've been complaining a good bit the past few days since I got back but I do have things to be thankful for... If I hadn't moved, I would have no where to go for the water exercizes and relaxation, no pain clinics within an hour or so where I could be comfy driving to, and probably would be without Internet now due to some other issues. I'm trying to be positive and am soooo appreciative of any prayers and kind thoughts on my behalf and will also be sending out a lot of those for other sufferers whom I know about or not. (hmmm, is that correct grammar? *lol*)

Blessings to all of you,

Midnyte

I think you are right; she was just being difficult. Makes me so mad when people are like that!

I'm glad you feel better here. It is very intriguing to me how everyone is affected so differently by locations. Seems like for every person who says "I feel better here" there is one who is worse. lol I am considering moving to Colorado soon. While I am afraid of the cold (it hurts!) I also feel like the lower humidity will help me a great deal. These doggone storms are killing me!

I keep thinking swimming will help, but I can't stand knowing about unseen critters in the water. lol Last time we went to the beach we saw a baby sting ray and a baby barracuda. Cool when you see them, scary when you don't but know they *must* be there. One of our friends was recently stung by a jelly fish so now I am even more paranoid. Yes, I am a wimp. lol

I wish we has a pool but there are very few here in the Keys unless you are rich. We definitely do not fit that description.

I to would hate to go to a pool that is crowded. I go to PT on Tuesday and noone is in the pool with me. The water is somewhere around 92. On Friday there is a 3 year old in there with me. So it is not bad. If it wasn't for disability I wouldn't be able to do this. Everytime I go it is $30.00. Twice a week atleast until the end of Sept. I not sure when they will release me. That is why I pray for everyone to get their disability. THAT IS DESERVED!

I am praying that the new pain clinic will be as good as I'm told. It will be about a half mile or so from the pharmacy and shouldn't be too difficult for me to get my scripts there.

As for locations ... I lived in Boulder, CO for just over 2 years and the dry humidity there either helped with the pain or increased greatly by the time I moved from there to GA again. I think a good deal of it is due to the stress factors for me also.

As for the pool, no way I could afford a kiddie pool much less a real one *lol*. I am currently renting an efficency apartment at an inn that has a pool so you can imagine how many ppl are in the pool at any given time.

As for disability, I gained mine 3 years ago and still have trouble managing medical bills for tests and things. Sometimes I think they increase the bills just for us. j/k but it does seem that way sometimes. I can't help but believe disability is well deserved for anyone who suffers with fibro, much less those of us with other ailments also. Not to take away from other illnesses and ailments that prevent ppl from working, of course. I just wish more understood just because you can't see our pain as with some issues, it doesn't mean it's all in our head. Mine goes from my head to the tips of my toes.

Oh well, enough of my soap box today. May you all find peace and a pain free afternoon!

I forgot to mention that as odd as it seems, after I moved back to GA from CO, the different areas in which I lived made a difference in my pain. It was different altitudes and one area had much more rain than another, etc. Perhaps that is why I'm feeling some better here than you are, I'm in Central FL while you are at the very most southern tip... right? I know when the barometric pressure changes, no matter where I am, it increases the pain. I can only imagine how it will be with 4 different storm systems active within the next week or so after Faye just moved through. Needless to say, the 2 days she sat over the area I live now, did not help any.

I think I covered everything this time. I'm getting ready for a trip to the river if my bf gets home in time. Wish me luck

Midnyte, It sounds like that nurse is hiding behind the HIPA law. If you have something in writing giving auth for others to pick up things for you, it wouldn't have to be just your boyfriend that they know personally. All they would have to do is check the written auth in your chart and check that person's id.

There were a lot of pages of posts here, so I might have missed something, but I'm appalled that the dr's office can't just CALL IN your prescriptions to the pharmacy. Mine has done it just based on a phone conversation or email.

Good luck with everything. I hope you enjoyed your plans today with your boyfriend.
