You guys are so funny- about the smoking thing that is. I know it is terrible for me but I quit went I felt my worse and it didn't help at all. You'll laugh at this....

When I was really flareup and I was taking all these different meds. I went to see a friend and told her "I found the best meds." yet and threw my pack of smokes on the table. She laughed her butt off!!!!!

In Tennessee now the no smoking rules are very strict. Smokers cannot smoke in any public area. You have to be 75 feet from the entrance of any building. They are considering a bill now that will prevent any adult with a minor in the car from smoking at all. My oldest daughter smokes and has a car seat in her truck for my grandson, she is his aunt, and was pulled over last week because the policeman seen the car seat and her smoking and pulled her over to see if the baby was in the truck with her. He wasn't in the truck and they were just checking. I agree with this law about the car and minors because you see children in the car and the smoke in it looks like a thick fog. These people don't have sense enough to protect their own children so our gov. steps in. I do think though there needs to be an age limit, because a teen ager can open their window when babies in car seats can't. My husband has a niece that has 3 children and they are almost 1 year old, almost 2 years old and one almost 3 years old and one day she brought them to my daughter's house ( for her to watch) and they stank so bad from cigarette smoke that we gave them a bath and washed their hair. She has these children to the dr. all the time for respiratory problems and we pay for it because they have state insurance. Sorry for the vent but someone mentioned how unfair it is for smokers and I think this is very unfair for some children of smokers.

I am glad you are quitting by the way, A friend of mine just died Wednesday, which was my birthday, from lung cancer brought on by smoking. I don't say every smoker will die from smoking or its complications but I have seen the effect it has had on my friends and family. My dad quit after 50 years and my mother-in-law quit after about 40 years so YOU CAN DOOOOO ITTTTTTT

my father quit smoking after fifty years and died of a stroke a month later. on the other hand my uncle died of emphasima and never smoked. they burried a friend of mine whom never smoked a day in his life no one in his family smokes but he died of cancer. as many people die of smoking related diseases as do of just their environment. my uncle worked in an icecream plant, his emphasyma was caused by the cold air in the freezing room. my friend was a logger and got cancer from gas and diesel fumes. when my momquit smoking she ended up having to have a quadruple by-pass. i think i look at it as da**** if you do or don't. best of luck to all who have and are quitting. more power and prayers to you.

huggs to all

I for one am sick and tired of all the talk from ex-smokers and non-smokers about smokers. I do feel that young children should be protected but when mine grew up nobody even knew smoking was harmful to the smoker or anyone else and mine grew up fine. What's next, a law that says you can't smoke in your own house if children are there?

ha! where I live there IS an antire COUNTY ($$$$$) that IF, say i was smoking on my deck or in MY backyard, and YOU were in/on YOUR deck/yard....

well - GET THIS: you can complain about my smoke and i have to stop.

Friggin bunch-o-granola-eatin-birkenstock-tree-hugger-wanna-be's- with-his/her-Land-Rover-gas-suckers

oh - and - shocker - right outside the land-o-legislators city more commonly known as our nations capitol.

which i might happily add - now smoke-free, had to CLOSE a bunch of ritzy cigar bars that legislators frequnted but --- didn't inhale.

Hey guys- I know alot of passion is flying around here. We all have our own thoughts and what not about the subject. I'm a smoker and in Ohio you can't smoke hardly anywhere now.

All I can say is please don't stress yourselves out about this. I know for me when I get upset my symptoms get worse so I don't want that for anybody. All of us who do smoke know it is extremely difficult to quit. Yah it would be great if I never started but -I did after my mom died when I was a teenager.

What I don't understand is most insurances will NOT cover things to help you quit. If you have other addictions they will but why not smoking????

I just know when I have quit in the past I can't judge other people that do because it is a hard habit to kick.

I try to at least not smoke around other who don't and I don't smoke in front kids. At this point this is the best I can do. It is REALLY REALLY hard for alot of people to quit so if you can good for you. I mean that sincerely!!!!
