I just fielded a computer question in another post. I would like to let everyone know, any computer questions folks feel free to PM me or start threads and I can answer. I am a certified computer tech (CompTIA A+ Lifetime member) and I have been on computers since 3 years old (fixing them since 5 and now 26). Keep in mind I am a busy person who does school and work. I will answer all questions in the order recieved and as quickly as I can, but please understand if I get held up from time to time.

LoL, you are welcome. I am ALWAYS ebing asked comp questions. I even have a following of computer techs that keep me on speed dial and call to ask for help. You can consider me a computer tech's computer tech. Its just what I do, what I have grown up with and have always known I wanted to work on computers. Yes, I was that weird guy in 1st grade when they ask what do you want to be when you grow up, and I reply, a computer technician. Go figure

Thanks so much for that offer. I am good with computers as well, software more than hardware, but since I got fms, I can't seem to remember half the stuff I used to know. It is always nice to have someone to talk to so you can bounce ideas off of them. Look forward to talking with you.

Not a problem, and yeah I know how you feel I thought when I was having conversations and forgot words (common words too) right mid sentence I thought it was meds, but it is progressive, and thankfully I have a job and been doing this since birth so it is ingrained in to me.

Feel free to ask away you can ask your question and I can give an answer and when you get time or have a good day and can try what I suggest just get back to me and let me know my solution did not work. I am flexible

Ambrosia, you must be young, lol! I'm forgetting all kinds of things. I agree, it is progressive. I wonder where it will all end, lol!

Huh, what did I say? LoL, yeah its prolly the most major issue between my parents and myself. I used to run right through school no issues. It is hard for them to understand that holes in my memory are there and getting worse. They just say, well quit the drugs and I say I wish I could I hate being a slave to anything and since I smoke this is just another addiction (yes addiction I dont care who you are after long time use of these meds you are addicted) but I can not or I would not be able to get outta bed. Nor do I want to fail at school, rather, I yearn to be done with it! So, hopefully it plateaus here for awhile, but forgetting simple words you have ion the tip of your tongue at random and mid sentence as well as numbers going in to my brain and coming out diferently make school very difficult.

Well I'll be the first one to break the ice.

I've had alot of problems with my laptop and desktop.

I'll start off slow. lol

I barely know anything, I am self taught by trial and error. I mainly go to majorgeeks and try to figure things out.

Our computers run slowly. Mainly the desktop, slow as molasses. The laptop is better, unless I serf the net.

We are hooked up to broadband, and run a network through linksy to the laptop and printer.

I run the anti-virus, Superantispyware, spybot search & destory, spyblaster, and Ad-ware. To help delete ad-ware, malware, spyware.

I also have Zone alarm firewall on my laptop.

Also on my laptop my anti-virus (avast free version) has detected trojans and has added them to the chest. They are still there.

I've run the defrag and I've run the disc cleanup (do the disc one alot) on both.

I also have easy cleaner to clean out the register and unneccessary files. Never touch the duplicates, totally afraid of that one.

Unless it's processes running in the back ground?

I don't know how to tackle that one.

I've had a virus on the desktop called virumonde a while back. I called a guy who added the Ad-ware program and he also ran annother program, can't remember the name of that one.

Anyway the next time I ran spybot it found it again. Then I ran it again and it was gone. That was after he said he had gotten rid of it. I called him and he said it was from playing games and serfing the net.

But we didn't download anything. I don't understand, he has me paranoid now to use the net. I don't understand how come I'm always getting viruses with all this protection I'm using.

Now on the desktop, none of these programs find anything except for tracking spyware. I can't use the Ad-ware program anymore, the start up link has gotten damaged somehow. And it won't let me uninstall it or reinstall it.

the Anti-virus I had (Avast) was acting funny, not really updating the database on it's own. So I installed a different one. Can't remember the name right now. It has an umbrella inside a red square.

I am at the point of totally reinstalling everything. We've had to do this once before. Maybe we didn't do it right the first time. There is 49% free space on the desktop, so I know it can't be that we have to much on there.

Any help will be greatly appreicated.

Happy Easter!
