All my life ( until Fibro 1999) I was disgustingly Healthy. Oh yes, I had the occassional cold or flu, but nothing traumatic. In fact, even now, I have no other medical problems except Fibro. So taking meds was not in my vocabulary. After my first course of pain meds, sleeping pills and of course anti depressants and all the side effects that go with them ( and I had some pretty bad ones) I am scared to death of medications. I know that I need them, I know that some will help me feel better and I know that this is the way my life will be from now on.

It has gotten easier over the years to just go ahead and take them , but the fear of what it is going to do to me is still there....I feel like I am sitting on a time bomb just waiting for it to go off HELLLLLLP

Have you tried any vitamins or natural path? Maybe that could help and replace some of the medications? Of course talk to your doctor and/or a naturalpath of course before changing anything, good luck and I'm sorry.

Sometimes it's hard to walk, talk, or even know what tomorrow brings. But as long as I have a smile on my face I can give a little bit of sunshine!

Hang in there! A little fear of drugs in a healthy thing just as a little of the drugs can also be a healthy thing. Let's just say that you are cautious when it comes to medication. Best wishes Yendor

I don't know, (when I could exercise high impact) strenuous exercise (like karate...sparring, kata{forms}, running, these exercises helped me when I was in the toughest part of my fibromyalgia. At one point it hurt to move my eyelids, to roll over in bed...it even hurt to silently cry, but I started doing karate and in the beginning I thought that I would die. In time, my body and mine adjusted to the pain and it worked better then any medication (narcotic, insaidor antidepressant etc.) This is just a thought and for some it may be worth trying (with your doctors permission that is)...Just a thought...
I've joined the PAH support group because of my diagnosis of Borderline/Mild Pulmonary Hypertention. I also have multiple diagnosis such as Systemic Lupus (which is in remission-Praise God!), hiatal hernia, fibromyalgia, hypothyroidism (my thyroid has been removed),prinzmetal angina, tricuspid regurgitation, pulmonic regurgitation, and dilated cardiomyopathy (with a pacemaker/defibulator). With multiple health issues, I tire pretty easily, but people are very patient and understanding, and I praise God for this and all things.

I don't know, sometimes you don't get past the concern of taking certain drugs (like my heart meds and thyroid meds for instance). It is hard to take them, but I do for I know that I'd die without them. I do know that if I could afford alternative meds I'd think about trying them. Also if you can exercise (ask your doctor) it is worth a try...I promise

Granny & Malaluka, I have stayed away from or not gotten my script filled for so many different drugs just because I was scared. The one's that I need to stay alive like my heart and diabetes meds I refuse to have them changed because I know they work and why mess with something that already works. When I come home, I look the drugs up on the PDR to see if there is any adverse interactions with the ones I'm taking now. I refuse to go on pain pills because 1) I can handle the pain I have right now myself. 2) I'm afraid that if I go on pain pills, I'll just become adicted to them and keep wanting more. (this is my thoughts only, I am not judging anyone here who is on pain pills for fibro, remember my fibro isn't like yours. I don't feel pain like the rest of you do)
May your troubles be less, Your blessings be more. And nothing but happiness come through your door!

Malaluka,

I know I'm VERY new to this, but my doctor prescribed Lyrica and it has been extremely helpful! It was a major part in reducing my symptoms and I have not had any major side effects. I feel slightly drowsy in the morning, but it is worh it to relive the pain. After about a week, I started feeling better, and I am now at 2 weeks. I did have a flare afew days ago due to some major stress at work, but I am a strong supporter of this medication.
