I had my first visit with the new doc yesterday. He read over my test results so far, asked a few questions and agreed I definitately have fibro. He's trying a treatment of lyrica and a pain gel rather than the previous opiods I was on before. I go back in November unless I have problems requiring attention before then. He was very nice, explained the answers to the questions I got to ask and told me fibro is not "all in my head" although a chemical imbalance is most likely causing mine. Will try to go into more detail later after my arm eases off a bit.

Morning Midnyte ...

Don t worry about ""wrong forum"" ... I thought this was an interesting post.

Glad you had a good appt. with dr. and it sounds like he is trying to work with you on what you are going thru.

I always like coming out of an appt. where I felt something was accomplished and I understood the how and why ....

Hope you have a good (pain free) day today !!!

Marilyn

Hi Midnyte and leechasse,

I hope the Lyrica and Voltaren Gel work as well for both of you as they have me (at least so far).

I started Lyrica this past May (150mg (2 pills) per day, both just before I go to bed). Very minor side effects at first but they are gone now .

The Voltaren Gel was a free sample from my Rhuemy for the base of my neck and right shoulder. The sample tube was 20g and one only has to use very little amount to notice a difference in the pain. I don t use it regularly (like every day or whatever); just when I need relief.

That same day (Aug. 22) he wrote me a prescription and said ""if the sample gives relief, fill the 'script as needed"". Today is Oct. 5th and I just had the 'script filled !!! This tube is 100g and looks huge compared to the sample tube but my insurance did cover it so I m happy. ($24.48)

I m thinking if that smaller sample tube lasted me 6 weeks, this tube is good for 3-4 months. I can handle that.

Cool. I want to try that gel. Hopefully I remember it when I go to my doctor appointment. I always forget things.
