Why wear a ribbon?

"I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 10 years ago." (txfurbabymom)

MDJunction to me

mabri"When I was diagnosed about 18 months ago with fibromyalgia, I didn't know where to turn. I got on my computer and looked for a support group where I could talk to other people with the same disease and get some help...Information, suggestions, mostly just what I can do now that I have this.....disorder/disease/syndrome...I didn't even know what to call it. I found MDJ, and yes, there was a support group for fibro. I started a post, and figured I would never get an answer. However, very quickly I was welcomed in, and became really involved in the group. I received help, support, friendship and the feeling of being truly cared about by these strangers who had become like family to me. Now, I have been here for about a year and a half...I have become a group leader, and love every minute of it. It is so wonderful to be able to help others. I still receive help and answers from the members in this group. The fibromyalgia is where I go to help, support, listen, care and even laugh. I don't know what I would do without this group." I'm so jealous of you girls with tattoos!!! I want one so bad but I've never gotten up the courage to get one. I've always wanted a "tramp stamp" the tat across the lower back (like waistline) with my kids names in it. *sigh* someday.... Smile

I had my nose pierced for a few months a long time ago. A friend of mine went to get hers done and I agreed to go with her. I had no intention of getting mine done but she was scared and I just looked at the guy and said do me so she will do it! lol Mine didn't hurt at all, just a little weired because he was all up in my nose. But my friend saw that it didn't hurt me and she went ahead and did it. I knew she wouldn't have done it if I didn't do it. Ahh the sacrifices made for a friend. Smile I took mine out when I met my dh's family for the first time. They are very strict Christians and wouldn't have liked seeing a little stud in my nose. I only left it out for 18 hours but it closed up that fast.

On my lower back, I have a memorial tat of a heart with wings for my mother.

On my left shoulder blade, I have a pair of wedding bands with the date we got married. My husband has a matching set of bands and date on his left peck, so when he wraps his arms around me, they touch. That was our 10yr wedding anniversary gift to each other. No names, just dates...so we can put the date of death or divorce below...silly, huh

If you don't mind me asking, where do you live? I'm about 3 hours west of Chicago, in Geneseo.

Kristie...

Pretend you're on the Nike commercial and "just do it"!!! Errrr...I think it was Nike!

I have a 'tramp stamp' and two roses on my right ankle. I'll take pics and share them! But I'll do it on the 'Pic Sharing' thread!

Just for giggles I thought I'd find this thread and bump it up again. Actually I got the idea from a group I'm in on Facebook. They were discussing their "Native" tattooes and I had to be a smart a@@ and said "I have a halloween cat on my front left shoulder, just sayin..."

It's true, I do Smile Anyone else want to talk about tattooes or piercings? I got my tattoo when I was 44. It was my older sister's 46th birthday and she wanted to get a tattoo. She got a naval star with the word "bitch" in a banner. My daughter was 20 and she wanted one bat on her upper arm. The artist felt guilty for charging $50 for such a tiny tattoo and free-handed a whole flock around the original tatt.

So, anyone else?

All I have is a tongue piercing & my ears are pierced, but I do plan on getting a tattoo on my back of the poem 'footprints' with each of my boys footprints alternating up my back with their names & birtdays. Sembolic of all the trial & tribulations we've been through. If I am ever able to get it done ill posy it up! Smile

Omg! Thanks for bumping this thread! Your stories of how/why you got tats are too funny! Best giggles I've had in forever! Laughing

My only tat is on my ankle. It's a sun (sorta cross between sun/sunflower) with my DH's name above. It's very colorful & I love it! Thank heavens we're still together! LOL. If I had to do over, I honestly wouldn't have dh's name. Big no- no! Hubby wants me to get "license plate" (" tramp stamp") with his name, but I've always said my next tat is gonna have something to do with my children. I would love to get another one, but afraid to do so now that I've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia.

Oh, & I was a little intoxicated when I got tat just because I was afraid it would hurt. By the time it was my turn, I had sobered up! No pain, just annoying feeling when needle hit bone.

Double piercings in ears & pierced nose.....which I absolutely love!

I got my first(and only tat) when I was 19, my group of friends frequented the local tat shop to get tats for them and piercings for me, at my hay day I had 9 piercings(including my traditional ears) ans well as buy jewelry.

So one day I went along and got a tat, on my wrist of a sun, like motherof5 it is a cross btwn a sun and flower..with the rays going around my wrist and connecting on the other side.

I am very lucky that I didn't get something that I am ashamed of or that is overly noticable now days...most people thinks its a watch when they see it... lol

Craziest piercing story was when I had my eyebrow pierced the first time they hit a vien and I had blood running down my face, which scared even the tat guy... I knew though that the vein wasn't large enough to do any harm to me..so I was laughing..probably looked like a laughing maniac with a half bloody face lol.

My dx: Psoriatic Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, Sjogren's syndrome, Degenerative disc disease, 2 herniated discs, Endometriosis, TMJ, IBS, Costocondritis, bipolar, and possible Anklydosis Spondylitis.

I was going in to have my hysterectomy and was panicking that I could die, I almost died with my last daughter soo I decided a tattoo was in order. I went and got my daughters names done on my lower back with an angel above them in memory of the baby I lost. I couldn't draw what I was thinking in my head because I draw hideous the guy kept laughing so I explained and he understood it was as if he was in my head. I wanted it to be as if the baby angel was watching over my daughters. I love it! Paul and the girls love it too but he was laughing after because he thought when I went to go for my first tattoo it would be a little smaller Laughing I went all out. My second tattoo I got on my lower right shoulder with mine and Pauls names in a small red hearts, cliche I know but I am pretty confident in us so I'm not worried. Wink I have 6 ear piercings 7 counting the Tragus (ouch!) the cartilage near the ear canal ugh worst peircing ever but I love it. He did it for free for messing up a jewelry order for my Monroe peircing lol that one closed a few months ago I've had it done twice lol. I have my tongue, nose and belly button pierced. Tongue I have all gold and diamond jewelry lol I'm a picky pin cushion Wink

(look better in person than pictures lol)
