Hey EVERYONE, I was thinking of starting a thread on ... TIPS to SAVE MONEY and TIME.

I know times are tight. For some of us maybe tighter that ever!

Who ever really has enough time to do all they would like to. Even if it seems like an OLDIE maybe some of us never thought of it or forgot about it. ANN

Time and money saver-Soon after going to the grocery store have a food prep spree-boil some eggs, clean lettuce, make a jello salad, maybe a cake, clean some veggies, make mac or pasta salad, mix up a dip, start supper early just because you are already in the kitchen. Do it all when your family is busy w/ other things if possible.Take your time go at your own pace. Saves time-gives you a head start on more hecktic times. Saves money because you are actually prepared to throw some things together.

I like to buy ingredients that will work in several dishes then prepare them ahead of time. I divide them into meal size portions and freeze/fridge them until ready to serve. I save some money and time this way. Hope it counts

I've also learned that buying certain brands of bathroom tissue is a waste of time and money. I heard that buying a single ply brand saved so much money but found out it's a waste! I found a 3ply brand that is cheaper and stretches much more and isn't as rough on the skin. (if you know what I mean *lol*) I save time and money by not having to run to the store to buy more this way plus the tissue seems to go a lot longer.

I love tea!!! I bought a large container that holds more than a gallon of tea (I drink tea constantly... always thirsty). I make the container full and always keep one in the fridge. I save time and money on energy by making larger amounts at once and it doesn't really take any longer to boil water than for a smaller amount.

I will post more as I can think of things....

"A pearl is a beautiful thing that is produced by an injured life. It is the tear [that results] from the injury of the oyster. The treasure of our being in this world is also produced by an injured life. If we had not been wounded, if we had not been injured, then we will not produce the pearl."

Hey I like crystal light but it's pricey. I go to WMart and get their brand in that same type of container I always make a gallon at a time- I mix cranberry with almost all the others peach and raspberry go well together the apple mixed great with the others too I really like the orange too just . Its cool to come up w/ good "sophisticated flavors " w/ cheap stuff. I have never found the artificial sweetner gave me problems- but gaining weight from surar -WOULD!!!!

This may not be a money-saver, but it's a time-saver and life-saver for me.

I don't cook on rehearsal or performance nights. And the way my schedule has been, I have only had two weeks off between shows all year. I think I've forgotten how to cook.

I do have a freezer full of pre-cooked meals from whenever I last cooked, because I learned from my mother to cook in large batches and freeze everything. But often, I forget to thaw. So my time - life saver is those 90-second microwave meals. Hormel makes some, I can't remember the other brands.

I eat for strength, not hunger. I don't get hungry, but I do get weak and sick if I don't eat, so these are quick and handy, and most of them are fairly tasty.

I have also tried them. I agree they are so convienient. I like that they are not frozen or refridgerated, and you can find low fat and calorie ones too.

I have a money saver- I just made home made croutons. for salad or breading chicken. I had some bread that was a bit older than I wanted to use. I sprayed it all up with some cooking spray and spices, I had some ranch by HV in a shaker so I used that too. I have all kinds of spices I never use. I cubed the bread now I am baking on 250 for an hour I am going to watch to see how it does since I havent done this for a long time. My Grandma would be so proud. She never wasted a thing. She lived through the depression as a kid. She was a widow with4 kids by 28, remarried and had 4 more. She had breast cancer with 4 kids still young at home lived through that too. Then she went on disability( she was a hair dresser so it was hard to go back after the masectomy. They were not wealthy but never really did without that I saw. I know it irritated her in her older years to see how wasteful and spoiled we all became. I think that's why we are where we are today with our economy. I am taking responsibility for that too. not just pointing fingers. Hey we need to make a new thread... tell about our most inspirational family member! Could one of the leaders move this to that thread?
