I know alot of your hearts still hurt, eyes still cry, and screams ring in our ears from that fatal day of 9/11. We will never forget that day, those lost, or those families who will never be the same. 9/11 affected us all, I know I still cry and hurt and remember that day each time 9/11 comes around. Let us take a moment and remember those tragic events of 9/11, never forget but stay strong for our nation.

You know everytime I go to vent today I just think about how small my problems are compared to 9/11 and those directly affected. It makes me step back and say you know what for one day I am not going to be stressed about my condition or about the difficult situations in my day and I am going to feel blessed and look at what I have and be thankful. I feel so selfish for dwelling on the petty things in life.

Well I know that I just shed a tear for those lost and

the deep pain our nation felt on 9/11. Today I am going to be thankful that I live in the United States and thankful that I am alive, thankful for my family, and all of the perks that I take for granted. Today is a day of rememberance.

Sometimes it's hard to walk, talk, or even know what tomorrow brings. But as long as I have a smile on my face I can give a little bit of sunshine!

My 15 year old said that everyone in his school was asked to wear all white. He wore all black. For him it was a statement that the tragedy didn't end on 9/11, but that we are continuing to add to it with all the innocent lives being taken from Iraq- both citizens and troops. I thought that was pretty mature for a 15 year old. I don't just think about the 3000 lost on 9/11 but all the innocent people lost in the war.

We've had the benefit of knowing a lot of Muslim families because of our proximity to a university with a large Muslim population. They all mourned with the US over 9/11, but also mourn the lack of understanding of their faith and judgment of Muslims, even though what was done in the US on 9/11 was the act of extremists.

I hope we all remember the many who have been effected by the acts of a few. Our world will certainly never be the same.

God bless and keep us all.

Thanks for that post Cornbread, that was a strong statement for a 15 year old, it's amazing itsn't it. I agree we should be thinking of all of the people lost in 9/11 and the war.

What an intelligent, compassionate and brave young man you have there Cornbread. I agree with him we should remember that it didn't end on 9/11 but continues for as long as the war continues. Remembering those we lost on 9/11 and those we continue to lose in the war.

May the sun bring you new energies by day,
May the moon softly restore you by night ,
May the rain wash away any worries you may have,
And the breeze blow new strength into your being,
And then, all the days of your life,
May you walk gently through the world, and know it’s beauty and yours.

The last post only allowed me to post one picture and I think this one is important too, it reflects how I feel about 9/11.

May the sun bring you new energies by day,

May the rain wash away any worries you may have,
And the breeze blow new strength into your being,
And then, all the days of your life,

Very good post, Cori ..thank you for posting it !!! I agree with everything you said and I DID have several Xs today, a moment in time to reflect on all those affected by 911.

Cornbread, what an astute young man you have in your house to ""go against the grain"" and wear the black instead of white. I hope you are proud of him !!!

faieriemama, very nice pic ... I have seen that particular one several Xs different places online today. Thank you for sharing also ....

I am proud of him. He's such an amazing kid.... I'm very blessed. He's been a peer counselor, did the newbie tour for 7th graders when he was in jr. high 2 years in a row, gets amazing grades, educates himself on all things political and controversial and generally is just a cool person to know.

Cornbread, that is a mature, future-thinking young man you have there. God bless your family. Fairiemama I love the photo of the eagle. My husband had a tattoo of an eagle on his arm and now the eagle is special to me. I heard a beautiful rendition of an e-mail I received twice today called "Meet Me in the Stairwell" and it was signed by God. Oh, the emotions it brought up but it was wonderful. I agree that we should not judge all Muslims or Arabs or Germans (the holocaust) etc. There are radicals everywhere in the world. I will say, though, that I am very proud to be an American. Hugs to everybody.

I can't begin to express my feelings on this subject. I still remember exactly where and what I was doing on that dreadful day and am thankful that many haven't forgotten those who have lost their lives because of that tragic event. I do my best not to forget to give thanks for those who fight and support our country. I too am so proud to be an American and must admit I lost many tears yesterday as I watched the memorials on t.v. and participated in the moments of silence. I also agree that we can't blame nor judge all because of the radicals who have caused so much pain in so many lives.

I love the pictures and posts here in support and memorial and think it is great that Cornbread has such a great son. I can only hope people don't forget too soon and that such an event never happens again... I wish I had gotten a copy of that email, Sistrozzie, it sounds like a good one.

I found these quotes while looking at some online memorials. These just go to show how varied thoughts are about that sad day.

"Observe your enemies, for they first find out your faults." Author ~ Antisthenes

"Hateful is the power, and pitiable is the life, of those who wish to be feared rather than to be loved." Author ~ Cornelius Nepos

"Difficulties show men what they are. In case of any difficulty God has pitted you against a rough antagonist that you may be a conqueror,

and this cannot be without toil." Author ~ Epictetus

"A pearl is a beautiful thing that is produced by an injured life. It is the tear [that results] from the injury of the oyster. The treasure of our being in this world is also produced by an injured life. If we had not been wounded, if we had not been injured, then we will not produce the pearl."
