I keep perusing the forums to find posts from other males. How many of us are there here? Just curious!

I'm not a guy, but I can say that I've read posts somewhere else from at least a few. On here, I haven't seen any that I remember, but I'm one of the newer members. Hopefully one of the more seasoned members can help you. I know how important it is to find help from others who can relate well to you. And while we women can understand the symptoms and pain, I'm sure that the separation of sexes leaves us with little or no understanding of some of the other issues you face with fibro. I wish you lots of luck!!!

Thanks, Jeerie. I am particularly interested in finding out about how other males cope with fibromyalgia. My fibromyalgia is post-traumatic and I also suffer from osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis conditions. I do not currently take medications, but have done so in the past. I would also like to know how fibromyalgia impacts relationships and employment for males.

There are lots of books out there on fibro. Have you tried any of those? I can't suggest any right now because I can't get to them at this moment, but there might be some good info. If I can remember I'll try to look at the table of contents in each and see if any would pertain to your concerns or areas of interest. If I find anything, I can post the titles for you.

Hopefully your subject as you posted it will draw attention. I do know that there are a few men on here. Hope you find what you need. Let me know if I can be of any help!

Hi Robert, looking forward to reading more of your posts in regards to men and fibro. I hope you can get their attention thru your posts, if I come across any I'll send them your way. I really want to find out how men with fibro handle the pain, stress, relationships, work etc. I hope that this doesn't sound to corney, I am just curious as to how men handle this disease, and what kind of support you get from your family/friends. I also can't believe that you don't take anything for your pain! How long has it been since you've taken pain meds? I was diagnosed with Fibro 4 yrs. ago, prior to that I had a back injury in Dec. of 94. I have been on all kinds of different pain meds since Dec.94....and to think that b4 my back injury I wouldn't even take aspirin for a headache! Now I can't imagine going a day without my pain meds. I give you a lot of credit for being med free! I agree with you about the side effects of the pain meds, but when you can't get out of bed, can't walk, and every inch of your body hurts I guess I can deal with the side effects just so I can function.

Well sorry for rambling on..that should be my name! lol, I wish you the best of luck with all and again look forward to reading more of your posts.

Take care,

Lots of hugs

Deanna

Robert I am hoping that after seeing you post, that the other men here will open up and post too and realize that is not just a group of women. Keep it up!

Where is Fletch2ya, haven't seen him post for awhile
