I'm a total foodie. I'm 2 classes away from a degree in culinary and religious history. I saw the what's for dinner post and laughed. Honey made hamburger helper LOL...I love to cook, but not after a terrible day in a hurry.

Any other foodies here? Anyone need recipe help? I'm a whiz with a crockpot!!!

You can plan my menus for the week if you feel like it!! The three words I hate to hear from my kiddos, "what's for diner?" Good news for me is that hubby and the 3 older kids will be gone tomorrow night so I don't have to cook. I can eat cereal, and my youngest isn't able to eat by mouth, so no cooking for me on Friday!!

I love to cook. I also collect cookbooks and read them like novels, never met a cookbook I didn't like

I need to get my crockpot out and start using it again. I need to find some Weight Watcher or low cal receipes to use in it. Since I haven't felt so good for awhile, hubby hates for me to stand and cook after working all day, so we usually just eat out. If I'm going to lose any weight that has to STOP.

I am addicted to cookbooks...just went through the ones I hardly used, ripped out the recipes I wanted to save and tossed the rest. All to make room for new ones because I know more will be coming!!

MaryBeth, Fix It and Forget It has a light cookbook. All their recipes are for slow cookers.

I also have loved the Cooking Light cookbooks. I've owned the Weight Watchers ones too but those were some of the ones I pulled recipes from. I love to cook but a lot of times it's hard between the pain and the baby. My hubby automatically switches the TV to Food Network when he's done watching something and leaves the room.

In an effort to try to cook more, I'm trying to make some new recipes alternated with convenience foods. Then of course we still order pizza!!!

Hi all,

I've just started getting into cooking thanks to my OH, he used to be a chef!!! He is an amazing cook & has been teaching me the ropes for the past year or so. I've loved every minute of it so far, my best dish would have to be Spaghetti Bolognase. Last weekend i made an amazing lemon & lime cake, mmmmmmmmm it was so yummy!!

I must have 500 cookbooks on everything from chocolate to Indian to Native American, pioneer and medieval! I have to have the lemon lime cake recipe Emma! We're always watching Food Network and anything with Gordon Ramsey. In my house everyone has a night they cook (tonight's my night but there are lots of leftovers so that's what we're having!). My kids each have a night and I usually give them a choice of what to cook. They have to pick something every time that they will be able to learn new though.

I like the crock pot because it's not a lot of time on my feet, the kids love everything that comes out of it and it's easy to do! My favorite recipe (and the kids can't get enough) is Easy Albondigas.

1 jar salsa (I use mild or medium)

2 large cans (family size) tomato soup

1/2-3/4 can of milk

1 bag frozen meatballs (thaw a bit and cut in half if desired)

1 can drained each of black and kidney beans

1 bag frozen kernel corn

1 can undrained chopped green chiles (I use mild)

1 chopped onion

Dump it all in a LARGE crockpot- mine is like enormous (the round kind that have those old gold crocks - half this recipe for sure)

stir and cook on low all day...serve topped with shredded cheese and sour cream, more salsa, chopped onions, whatever you like and eat it with tortilla chips....sooooo yummy!!

That sounds really good. Is it like a soup or more like a dip?

It's a thick soup, but if you increase the milk to a full can, it's really soupy. I like it a little on the thick side so it's good in a spoon or easy to dip. It's kind of stew thickness I guess.

Yes, that's the perfect time to make it. Sounds good now..I just don't have the stuff. We have so many leftovers anyway!

It's also really good with fresh corn tortillas if you have a tortillaria nearby.
