I have learned to avoid having any of the following, whenever possible, to reduce my pain level. I am amazed what a difference it makes to eat organic foods whenever I can.

The following are things I avoid like the plague:

1. No soda of any kind.

2. All additives to food, particularly MSG, which has alternate names such as autalized yeast, and many more. It pays to google MSG to find out its many names, which are meant to fool the customer.

3. No artificial sweeteners, not even Splenda.

I once ate some sugar-free cookies I had bought for my husband who has Diabetes II, and it caused a terrible fibro flare and I felt awful.

It does take me more time at the supermarket, but it is well worth my time.

Hey flip12flop - I really agree with changing our food habits. We (me my mom and niece) about 2 months ago quit the sodas - and for me I've noticed less headaches. My Mom always used sweet and low and loved her decaf coffee and she quit that habit about 1 1/2 years now. She like your dad has Parkinson's and who really knows what the cause is - I think we just poison ourselves without really thinking or knowing by just consuming all the stuff we eat. Have any of us really read the ingredients in the stuff we buy lately? If we can't pronounce it should we really be eating it?? I really love as a sweetner agave nectar it's all natural. We really need to try and avoid anything that's so called fat free - they contain the so called artificial sweetners!!!! Anyway that's what we are doing. Hope it can help someone else. Susie =)

MSG's are the worst for me. I don't notice much difference with the artificial sweetners. But I do believe ya! It's funny how our bodies react to things, and all so differently.

Thanks for the info!

I do not use foods with MSG, high fructose corn syrup, artificial sweeteners and mono dyglycerideds. Removing these items from my diet has truly helped me.

I have eliminated MSG, fructose corn syrup, all artificial sweeteners but not yet the mono dyglycerides, which I will now explore. Avoiding these things has definitely reduced my pain, and the more I find out what to avoid, the better for me. I spend a lot of time in the supermarket reading labels even if I have to put them right in front of me because of the tiny fonts used.
