UGH! I'm so sorry your enjoyable motorcycle ride ended up hurting you. When that happens to me, I ask myself if it was worth it...was it for you?

Unfortunately I think the only way to know your limits is through trial and error. Don't give up.

I hope you enjoy your bath and feel better soon.

Hi Autumn,

I m sorry you re suffering from what should have been something enjoyable (motorcycle ride). We used to have bikes and I loved riding for hours.

Now, the bikes are a thing of the past but we have small boats and a canoe. I love being on the water but have learned that I absolutely cannot do that anymore. It kills my back and then my hips hurt the following day.

We just have to figure out what our limits are and make up our minds what we can and can t do. The hardest part (for me personally) is getting my husband to realize that I DO hurt terribly some days and I am learning my limitations so he has to accept them also.

Gentle {{{hugs}}} ...

I went to California and babyssat my great granddaughter for three weeks and when I came home, I was in a lot of pain, but for me, it was worth it to be with her and with my granddaughter and her husband. I would do it again in a heartbeat but at the airport, I would ask for a wheelchair, lol. Autumn, you had a close encounter with your husband and I'll bet he really enjoyed that. Maybe for the next trip, you can get a side car to ride in and fix it up so you can be really, really comfortable.

Belated Happy Birthday wish for you Autumnskye. With the fibro, everything is trial and error. I love to go to the craft shows in the fall but I can't walk that far anymore without terrible foot and leg pains. You'll learn your limitations and make adjustments in your life as you go along.

I bet it meant a lot to him to have you ride together too. I'm sure he misses it as much as you do.

Seems that, for me at least, it isn't so much about learning our limitations as it is about accepting them. I am bad about that. I tell myself that there is no reason why I shouldn't be able to handle something. It isn't hard or strenuous or whatever. I end up regretting it and getting mad at myself for doing whatever it was.

It can be hard to accept that we have changed.

Kat you are so right about that.

I could understand if I was tempted to go out and cut down trees, but rearranging my kitchen to make it easier for me, shouldn't make me hurt for days.

One thing that is hard for me is pciking up and carrying my grandson. How do I tell a 2y/o that Nana can't pick him up. I don't get to see him that much and you know us grandmothers can't say no!

Be wise and dignified like the swan: he maintains his composure, staying unruffled on the surface, while always paddling like crazy underneath.
