I have had terrible problems with hair loss off and on since I've had FM.

About 2 years ago it was coming out in huge clumps and when I took a shower it would be plastered all over the shower wall.

I was finding hair everywhere. In my food, in my bed. My clothes would come out of the dryer with hair all entwined.

After a shower one day I gathered all the hair after it dried and put it in a baggie to show my doctor because there is a difference between loosing a little hair and loosing a lot of hair and I think he thought I was exaggerating.

I thought it was the meds, but since I've had the problem I've had all my meds switched out. I also have had every test ever invented.

It is not falling out right now, but every couple of months I start having the problem again.

Luckily I have a very thick mane and it wasn't obvious to other people. But it still sucks and I have found no answers.

Dermatologists treat ppl who have alopecia (hair loss) I used to work for some derms. We had ppl bring bags full of their hair to us to show us what they had lost.

Thanks guys, at least I know I am not alone. I take hormones due to a histerectomy years ago. I take those and I also take vitamins every day. The lady who trims my hair said she couldn't tell I had lost much hair so that was good. So told me to not color it or put a perm in or anything like that to see if it would get better. It hasn't helped any. I usually wear it long but I am thinking of getting a couple of inches cut off so it will look thicker. I don't know if it is from fibro or the meds. Either way I don't see what else I can do for it.

Jan,

I go thru bouts of my hair falling out and they have said it was my Lupus but I am not 100 percent sure about that.

I was growing my hair out again for Locks of love and half of it fell out and I just noticed its starting to grow back in at the temples. I have had perms over the years and it didnt affect my hair loss so I really am not certain and none of the Dermatologist or Dr's are either. I have four lesions on my Thyroid but dont think thats it...when they gave me cortizone it DID cause hair loss for sure but I am NOT on that anymore due to my heart.

I would be willing to bet its stress more than anything for me. Did you say you have had a change in your living arangements?

Stress can affect you in so many different ways and so many different body parts. It has shown me many times unfortunately
