The article made me angry. I have been shot down by insurance companies before for simple things like GERD medications. When I retired from work, I lost my vision and dental insurance, but when I made an appt at Wal-Mart for vision, I learned that because I have cataracts, my medical insurance (Medicare) will pay for the entire exam. Insurance companies don't tell you everything.

Jamie that was a good article. I've been turned down for drugs too by my insurance company but they were the Diabetes drugs.

One thing I found out this past January when I have my yearly eye exam is the insurance company will pay for your eye exam under your medical insurance if you have another condition which affects the eye. I have heart problems, hypertension, diabetes, focal migraines and some more that directly affect my eye. Sure enough, my eye exam was covered under the medical portion of the health insurance. My husbands company provides eye coverage only on their employees. If I hadn't told my Eye Dr that I didn't have vision coverage anymore, I never would have known.
