Jan, they are so pretty. I love roses. I miss my plants. I am looking forward to when I am able to put some plants in.

I noticed your yellow roses have leaf minors. becareful with them. they can make a mess out of your roses.

Dragonfly, thanks for the heads up on the yellow roses. Excuse my stupidity but what are leaf minors? I looked it up on the internet and could only come up with some sports team in Belfast. Is it a bug? How do I get rid of it? I love my roses and it's the only thing that has survived the winters and wind in this place.

when you look at the picture of the yellow roses, you will see on the leaf that there are light green marks on the leaf. that is a bug that gets in the layer of the leaf and can get into the stem. pinch the leaf off and discard it far away from your plants. I normaly put the leafs in an old coffee can and burn them.

here is an old remidy for bugs that my grandmother tought me years and years ago. take chilli peppers as hot as you can find. boil them and put the water in a spray bottle. then spray the plants. the bugs dont like it.

Thanks for the info dragon. I'll do the chili pepper spray. I know ants don't like it either.

Hope you are having a good day. It's a sauna outside right now.

I hope it works good for you. please remember to cut off the infected leaves. you dont want them to get into the stem of your rose.

Already cut them. The columbine that grew around the roses seemed to have the most little yellow lines. I dug them out just in case. The rose leaves are in our burn barrel.. Thanks again.

you are very welcome. If I can ever be of help, just ask. I love plants and did a bit of helping out with a friend that had his own nursery. So I was able to learn some tricks. and I like to use natural things insted of all the chemicals on plants.
