Hi Everyone!

Just Wanted to introduce myself properly. I am 26, turning 27 on the 31st. I am married, I work full time as a purchasing assistant and am taking night classes about logistics at night. I stumbled across this site when my ears buzzed..hence "buzz girl". My real name is Martha. I am the type of person who always ends up doing more than she can handle.

The fibro symptoms come and go. Sometimes they are at their worst and I have migraines, pain, anxiety...all at once. Other times its just a lot of fatigue. One Saturday I remember waking up at 9am (after 10 hrs of sleep) and then sleeping again from noon to 5 pm. I am very hard working and my family has always expected the best from me so to admit to having any type of illness or disease is seen like a weakness in my family. Or an exaggeration.

Nonetheless, I plan on becoming better informed through various resources (this site, a doctor, and the book "the Fibromyalgia Advocate" which i just got in the mail). I don't like to take pills and will probably bear it and take advil with a lot of Ben-gay when worse comes to worse. But I hope to find ways to improve this with diet change and some exercise.

Finally, I want to thank everyone here for sharing their stories and themselves as it is always great to be able to talk to someone who knows what you've been through. Also, a thank you to the two people who hugged me! You guys are so sweet!! I look forward to getting to know everyone better.

-Martha

Welcome to our group! I was very nervous about taking medication for my pain due to my addictive personality. It got to the point I couldn't bear the pain any longer, so my physician prescribed Vicodin. A few weeks later I ended up in the hospital due to chest pains, most likely caused by anxiety. The doctor urged me to stop taking the Vicodin, so I took muscle relaxers for a while. Then I moved on to Lyrica, which has helped tremendously. I also take Mobic, Lexapro, and lots of vitamins. My oppinion about taking medication has changed, as my condition has improved and the pain is minimal. Hats off to you if you can find relief without meds, but don't feel bad if you have to take them at some point in the future.

Chocolate??? Where do you get this Chocolate???

May your pain cease,
May your strength increase,
May your fears be released,

Yeah, I am pretty lucky in that pain is only bad sometimes. Other days I am pretty ok, just fatigued. The days when I have it BAD I can relate to everyone on this forum. If it was like that everyday I would probably consider medication. I may still need it someday in the future but I will hold off till then. I'm going to go buy me some chocolate for now!

Oh, today's my birthday so I have to run, thank you for all your replies. I will pray that each one of you get better and feel less pain. In the meantime I'm getting myself some chocolate!
