Hello,

I'm a newby with this forum thing so forgive me if it takes awhile to figure it out. I just keep clicking.

How do you all do it? How do you figure out when to stop so you don't overdue? I take 3 steps forward and 4 back. I want to be able to function but I seem to have to take the pain meds in the afternoon because I'm in so much pain..

I'm trying to keep from loosing it but it's really getting to me.

I don't really think you know exactly when to stop. You have to trust your body to tell you how it is feeling. Sometimes I have to resist that urge to push for just a little bit more from myself. Now I have learned to pace myself. I may be a little slower getting things done, but I can do it if I go slow and take frequent rest breaks. I work a little and then sit and have a cup of tea or call a friend and then I work some more. If I wake up feeling lousy, I don't beat myself up over it anymore. I just tell myself that this is the way it is with fibro and I take it easy.

I guess I'm struggling with the anger from not being myself and it's coming out now in my personal life. The pain makes me just want to curl up in my bed and forget the rest of the world but then my family thinks I should be able to control it. I think in away I feel the same way. I have been reading books and trying all kinds of treatments but so far there is no answer that has worked for me. Thanks for letting me know I'm not alone!

Welcome to our group! You came to the right place. Listen to your body and rest when you need to. However, make sure you maintain some type of daily activities. When I was at my worst, I stayed in my reclining chair watching TV all day, which increased my depression.

I have not learned to pace myself yet. I work full time, granted I sit at a desk all day and that shouldn't be taxing. Somedays the sitting hurts like heck and some days the metal aspect of the job wears me down. Weekends I have things around the house to do, shopping and everything that has to be done on a weekend. Ther are days when I wish so badly that I could call in sick and rest but that just isn't in the cards right now. When it gets bad and I just can't take it any more I take a shower and cry in the shower.

Maybe we can work on this "pacing" thing together, whadda ya say?

Welcome jmd0214. I agree with ALCSS2008, I don't know when to say "enough is enough". I am working on the"pacing thing" too mcbeth, I am not very good at it yet. I have found out that when I overdo it I take a warm shower and a pain pill then a nap. Hope y'all find or know of some ways to say"enough is enough", and take care of yourselves.
May the sun bring you new energies by day,
May the moon softly restore you by night ,
May the rain wash away any worries you may have,
And the breeze blow new strength into your being,
And then, all the days of your life,
May you walk gently through the world, and know it’s beauty and yours.

Welcome to our family, It's like everyone else said, You must learn to listen to your body. When you start feeling tired take a break. That's the only way to do it. Once again welcome.
