I only want to comment on the filling stuff. There are some alternative doctors who believe the metals are making people sick. I can only say this. I have very few fillings- good teeth I suppose and I have fibro. Even alternative doctors couldn't blame it on that because I have so few.

I think it would be EXTREME to have all your filling redone at this time. There are tests alternative doctors do to see if you actually HAVE heavy metal poisoning so please at least do that before you have your mouth taken apart.

Also at one point I went to an acupunture person. She told me one of the local alternative doctors had all his patients get their filling out. They ended up coming to HER for their pain that still existed after all their filling were redone.

We are all at times desperate to do anything to feel better. Just know any risky or expensive treatment you should research. These forums are a great place to find out who has done what and how much it helped or not. I know it is hard to do this but at least use your drugs for now to get by but go ahead and DO research as to some alternative things you might want to try. Jumping in all kinds of cure alls without any forethought can be expensive, risky and when all is said and done a major disappointment which emotionally isn't good for fibro.

First of all there is to many problems with just deciding if it a disease or a mental condition..... If it is a disease, well then they have to have a tried and true, clear cut test that proves you have it...

Secondly there has to be an agreed that there is a treatment plan for this disease.......

Now yes congress did in fact make this a bonafide disease.... but the medical community has not..... most doctors do not agree... on any of the above.....

And when you put the cart a head of the horse, you will not usually get a good result, by this I mean it is the Pharm. Co. that are calling the shots..... As in Lyrica... It was the Pharm. Co that were pushing congress to made Fibro a real disease..... They then all of a sudden had this miracle drug.... Well it is not such a miracle, not with all the side effects...and we have no idea what problems it will cause us later down the road....like a lot of those RA drugs are doing to people now.....

What I am tring to say is...... We need to find some lobby group to lobby for the medical community to agree on the disease its self and then a treatment plan, that means a way to treat it, using all the specialtise at its disposal, Physical Therapy, meds, and what ever else is proven to work...... As for us right now...we have the cart somewhere way a head of the horse... why... becasue the Pharm. Co are calling the shots.... they are telling the doctors how to treat, and dictating the treatment protocol. When they pushed with all there millions of dollars for congress to make Fibro a diesease they were only looking for one thing..... and that was not a cure for fibro.... it was there way of just expanding there market share.... in there business....... you and I were really the last thing they were thinking about

And then we need to talk next on the INSURANCE co...... but that is a different subject at a different time....

Please remember Lryica is only 2 molecules different from its origin Neurontin.. They had to change it because the patent had run out on Neurontin.... Now the same old drug really has a new lease on life for Pfizer to sell .. And the amount of side effects that it causes with so many of its patients.... has to make you wonder if this was a good thing.... just look at the number of people here who have tried it and and terrible problems with it... me for one.... where I was on Neurontin for yrs and had no problems.....well had one..... it did nothing for my pain....... but that was just me....

I know it helps some people......as for me it was lousy....

and if you read the Lyrica post you can clearly see that is the way..... some are ok with it others are not..it is a person to person thing... but as for getting a cure for this.... I believe it will never happen.... what would happen to the drug companies if they really cured something....... there meds would be useless.... its better to just treat symptoms, that way they have you hooked for life..... because there drug helps you with that symptom...
