The past three days I have been experiencing lower rib pain that is like a stabbing pain along with pain in back, waist area. It goes from side to side and also there is a burning feeling at my waist area. I also have some pain down my tailbone as well. It is a miserable uncomfortable feeling. My stomach muscles feel weak in an odd sort of way. It sometimes hurts in my rib area when I cough or take a deep breath. I have tried taking 800mg Motrin for it and Flexerill with very little relief and I am also concernced as to what is causing it. Does this sound like nerve pain or costochondritis? Or something else entirely? It is really bothering me a lot.

Hi

When I read the title of your post I thought, "maybe costochondritis??" Then when I read about the burning feeling around your waist I thought, "maybe nerve pain (shingles)??"

I know, I know...I'm a LOT of help!!!

How are you feeling today?? I'll be thinking of you

Hugs,

Thanks Bkwrm - Yes I thought both of those two. I have no clue. No other symptoms that seem to be shingles though..not yet anyhow. Kinda achey all over. I wish I knew...

Thanks for thinking of me. Hope you are having a good day!

I get this sort of pain all of the time. This is actually where my fibro started and I thought I had shingles. But after having pain for a month and no rash, I knew it wasn't that. Then my pain started moving other places and then I was diagnosed with fibro. But I know exactly what you are talking about. I have that burning pain too in that area. I hope you are feeling better!! I noticed when I started taking Lyrica, that pain subsided. Have you tried Lyrica?

I have this pain quite often and brought it up to my dr. and he said it is fibro pain since I didn't have a shingle rash or anything. I get it especially when I stand in one place too long as in washing dishes or anything like that. Sometimes the pain is so severe I catch myself holding my breath to keep from hurting. I take pain meds. and they help some but don't get rid of all the pain.

Sorry you were hurting so bad.

I have had a lot of trouble in my hands lately and so I haven't been on much.

Well I know this probably isn't the same as you but I was having severe pain under my rib (right below it) and it would get worse the more I do. I was sore to touch too all over and hurt all over, especially the whole stomach etc... area. They thought possible gallbladder but when check, the test came back ok but wasn't completely ruled out. They then put a scope down me and found what they called "live organisms" (I guess bacteria) that lives and grows along the intestinal wall, and I was given a lot of medicine. It still seems to continue to return.
