Hi Netti and welcome. I had a tens unit, and it didn't really help me much, but everybody is different. I tried chiropractic care and he used to say that he got a "workout" working on me and that a sledgehammer couldn't loosen me up, and that was after a 1 hour massage only on my upper body. I have had neck surgery, and that is were the most of my pain is. My neck and shoulder blades. Have you had surgery? I also find that massage therepy works the best for me, I just can't afford it and the insurance won't pay. Do you still work? My pain didn't start getting bearable until I finally quit working, my neck just couldn't stand being at the computer all day. The only way I can use a computer is a laptop lying on the couch. Have you tried hot baths and alternating between hot and cold compresses. I also use Fentanyl patches and have vicodin and soma for breakthrough pain. On my really bad days this is what I use. I hope you feel better soon. You're with people who can honestly understand your pain and what that does to your life.

I know I love my tens unit, it really helps with the back, neck,and shoulder pain. Kinda sad that there are so many places I need too use it for pain, but thats my life.: )
May the sun bring you new energies by day,
May the moon softly restore you by night ,
May the rain wash away any worries you may have,
And the breeze blow new strength into your being,
And then,all the days of your life,
May you walk gently through the world,and know it’s beauty and yours.

I also get the pain in my neck and shoulders as well as around my ribs alot. Have you tried the myofascial release therapy it's kind of like a massage but not. I go to my Fibro clinic to recieve them once a week. I do not take the pain meds they reccomend because they make me feel worse. But the therapy really helps and I can make it through the week alot easier drug free. Well maybe an occassional Advil now and then. Hope you find relief hugs!!

Again, I sound like a druggie, but vallium (diazapam) has been a miracle for my neck and shoulders as well as my TMJ. It is addicting and I do require a fairly high dose but its less addicting than the narcotics I used to take and much less painful than the trigger point injections I used to get every other week. All the meds we take are technically addicting. Cant just stop taking without switching or weaning off.

After the first week of taking vallium I was as sharp as usual and safely driving. Most of these drugs I take I'll be taking the rest of my life, so what's the problem with addiction ?

Thats exactly what my dr. is trying to tell me, I will most likely be on them forever and should look at like being a diabetic who needs insulin. I just worry that something will happen to my doc and the new one wont perscribe the same meds. I also decided a long time ago to take ativan for nerves. It has heped a lot for pain everywhere because it takes away a lot of the stress in my body, and helps me sleep.

I take the occassional valium but since my doctor will only give me 10 at a time. I can't take them everyday which I don't need anyway because I take them mainly for the jaw pain when its at its worse. If I could I might take the half a pill a night just because it does wonders for my pain. But my doctor won't allow it he says Im too young to be addicted. I should ask him what the right addiction age is???

LOL An age. LOL

What I find to give me the most relief is a little machine you clip on your belt or waistband called a TENS unit. It's electro therapy and OMG does it help, and even more when using heat/ice with it. It stimulates the muscles deep and feels like you are getting a massage. That's one GOOD thing my Doc got me onto. Thankfully!! Ask your Doc if you can try it. (And btw, it's cheaper to buy it than rent it. It's from Empi, Their web site is www.empi.com click on products, Pain Management, EPIX VT--That's the one you want! ) Get the one with the 9 volt rechargeable if you can. The AA's with charger only last maybe 25 minutes whereas the 9 volt you can wear all day, have it on high, and it won't run out of juice. I've even used it going to bed. Helps me sleep good too.

Pamela {please}

I wish tons of love and hugs!
