I can def say that electronic stimulation that I received after a car accident in that area did a lot to reduce the pain and tightness in that area. Have you tried a chiropractor? They can do that type of stimulation and maybe get you put back in line up there...

I HIGHLY recommend a TENS unit for neck and shoulder pain. I was in a car accident and the neck and shoulder pain have not let up since and that was in 2004. The only thing that helps is using the tens unit with a heating pad. I also have pain so bad i black out. i get headaches from the pain, and like i said, the TENS unit is THE ONLY thing that helps. I bought mine because it was so helpful. Hope this helps.

Hugs,

Amanda

I haven't tried a tens unit but I know what your going through. My neck and shoulders are one of my biggest problems along with my upper arms. It feels like your constatnly have a ton load on your shoulders. My upper arms get so weak I can't hold them up long enough to dry my hair. I started wearing it short so I don't have to blow dry it anymore. It can't hurt to try the tens unit so I say go for it

Hi! I have to go to work. Look at old posts on Alpha-Stim 100 by Honey45. When I come home I'll tell you all about it. It's wonderful! Here's a website: www.alpha-stim.com or call 1-800-FOR-PAIN. I'll chat with you tonight or leave you a message!

I with the rest, I love my tens unit!! use it often, and have for a few years! The hmo got it for me through physical rehab, and like it alot... of course my teens, proved that it can't hurt you even if it is a very high number. (i know i might have should'nt let them do it, but it was just soooo very funny!) i use it on a small steady number, am not too fond of the pulse setting.

Hi Nettie, I have not tried the Tens unit yet but have been wondering about them myself. I first need to find a doctor that believes in my pain instead of telling me just do steching and yoga. My head feels like it is attached to my shoulders with no neck inbetween. It can tend to be just one big ball of ache. Yesterday, I felt as though everything was so tight that I was wearing my soulders next to my ears. It never really ever feels rested or pain free but heat seems to help a little bit and chiropractic brings some help for about a day but I am hoping to find another way for a bit of longer relief. I am interested in reading what everone else will post. Hope you find help as well. God Bless...

I have a TENS unit and all it did was aggravate my pain levels. It also made my muscles very sore. On the other hand, I love the Alpha-Stim 100. It has really helped me cope with the pain. You must use it on a regular basis. Google "Alpha-Stim for Fibromyalgia Pain" to learn more about it. I'm in the process of purchasing one. My insurance co. is paying 80% and I have to pay 20%. Look under my name, Honey45, on this page and click on the blue words about the Stim. It will take you to an earlier discussion. (What you needed to read was deleted by people in charge.) I guess I gave out too much info. about it. I hope your pain eases up soon! I forgot to WELCOME you to our site. I love it here! The people are very nice and informative. WELCOME, WELCOME, WELCOME!!!!!

My neck and shoulders are always hurting. Something that my hubby pointed out to me the other day was that I'm always holding my neck up. I sit up straight and I don't support it, allowing it to relax, so the muscles are always painful. My head feels like it weighs a thousand pounds. The pain radiates to the front, and it really hurts right above the clavical bones, down to the top of my chest. It gets numb and I don't even realize it.

I find that when it gets like this if I drape a hot wash cloth on it for a few minutes, lightly rubbing/pressing it while it's on. This helps to break the pain up a little bit anyways. If that doens't work a full blown shower is in order for me. And if that doesn't work well... I hope it's less tomorrow.

Hope this helps.

Janice
