Hello Everyone,

I am new here, but I have been dx'ed with FMS for 6 years. About 2 years ago I was also dx'ed w/ seronegative RA. I had the same Rheumatologist the whole time, but recently switched doctors. Finally, I the new doctor is attempting to treat the FMS. I started Gabapentin 300mg twice a day. Next week I increase to 3 times a day and then end up with 2 caps twice a day. I hope it helps. I would love to hear anyone else's experiences with this medication.

I lookforward to getting to know everyone as time goes on.

I've taken Gabapentin/Neurontin off and on for a few years and found that it sometimes takes the edge off some of the sharpest or most intense nerve symptoms and pain. It works similarly to Lyrica without the severity of side effects however, it does need to be built up in the system to work properly and dosage is often adjusted. Some people take 3000mg a day so you're being started on a low dose. I hope it helps you.

Anyway, welcome to the group!

I take Gabapentin. I just started. She has me take one at bedtime for 10 days and them I am to bump it up to two. She just said it would help me sleep. I didn't realize it would help with the pain as well. lol Learn something new every day.

Welcome.

Thanks for all the wonderful welcomes.

Kat5150-I wish I had started it just at night. Yesterday was my second day of taking it and I was in really bad shape. I had to pick my kids up from school and I was falling asleep at stop lights. It was SO SCARRY!

I hope it goes better for you.

Take Care,

Timmysmom

I definitely would not drive with it! That is scary. I am going to assume that once your system gets used to it, it isn't so bad. But as I said, I just stared it so I am no expert.
