Hi. I am new. I have never been active in chat before, but since bieng dx with FM in Feb. I decided to get some support. Here's my story for anyone interested in reading it.

I think I have had FM for about 5 years, but just recently got a dx. Too many Dr. visits and symptoms to name them all. I am grateful to finally have a name to what is wrong, besides laziness and hypochondriac. I have been put on tons of suppliments as well as Lyrica, Deplin, and Cymbalta. I am not feeling better yet, but have been told that it may take a while.

Now, I have thrush all inside my mouth and down my throat, has anyone else had this? How long did it take to feel better after starting Lyrica etc? And, what helps with the fatigue?

Thanks in advance

Hi Atara and welcome to the group!

I am still on Neurontin, which is the "old" version of Lyrica basically. My neurologist didn't want to switch me to Lyrica and neurontin works for me sooo...

Give it time to get in your system. Hopefully your body is not med resistant.

As far as fatigue, I do not know a med out there that can help for that, in fact I just saw my psychiatrist yesturday so she could evaluate my anti-depressants and she took me off Lunesta and just raised my elavil at night to 20 mg. She said there was no reason to be on both, whisch I agreed. The less meds I have to take the better. She told me that there isnt any medication you can take for fatigue.

Try as hard as it may seem to stay on the same sleep schedule of 8 hours of sleep each night. Go to bed at the same time and get up at the time every day even on the weekends she said. And NO TV, while trying to go to bed. No distractions. No caffeine 2 hours before bed and no food either.

Im gonna try it anyway and see if it helps.

She also said to drink lots and lots of water. Lay off soda and tea and coffee, anything with lots of sugar. Energy drinks are very bad for you because they give u a boost of energy and then they bring you way down and you crash.

When the world says give up, hope whispers give it one more try... unknown

Thnx for the info. The DRs also told me the same thing, so I cut out most of my sugars and after my one cup of coffee in the am I only drink water after that. I am thinking of adding gensing to my suppliments to see if that helps.

Provigil is what the drs.give to kids with attention defiecent disorder. It can make your heart beat faster if you have mitral valve prolapse. It works well. I had tried it then notice my heart was beating really fast. call dr. who tells me about the mitral valve. Im thinking what part of I have mitral valve didnt you understand. Anyway it did help me concentrate really well.

HI... I don't know about the mitral valve, but I take Provigil, and it helps me... I am so very happy that my doctor prescribed it for me.... It helps me with my concentration and just general well being.........

I know that all drugs have side effects, but this one has done wonders for me....

Provigil is used to help combat extreme sleepiness due to one of the following diagnosed sleep disorders: obstructive sleep apnea, shift work sleep disorder,or narcolepsy. This medication is very dangerous, and should only be used under direct supervision of your doctor. I tend to get a little riled up about this one ,cuz my grandma was on this for narcolepsy and she nearly commited suicide. Ok now I will climb down off my soap box, and just say hey if it works for you great.
May life always bring you laughter.
