I'm new to this fibro stuff. I've read a lot on this disease, & believe I've prob got it. Haven't been diagnosed yet. I've got A LOT of the symptoms. Pain & stiffness in my neck, all down my spine, lower back, hips, & it's starting in my knees. I've had tmj since I was 11 & have ben told it's so bad I would be eating babyfood by the time I was 35. I'm 36, & still eating reg foods, but I do have pain & popping with opening & closing on both sides. I was recently diagnosed with ic, & have. Lot of difficulty with urination. I thought the abd swelling was due to the ic, but I see now that's it's characteristic of fibro. I have days that I look like I'm 6 months pregnant! I've been asked if I am on several occasions. I just say, if I am, it's a miracle since I don't have a uterus! I'm very frustrated with doctors & myself & my body! Any suggestions any of you might have would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Shamarie and welcome to the fibro group.

We can't diagnose you here but I gotta say your symptoms sound familiar. Ask your PCP for a referral to a rheumatologist.

Good luck!

Welcome to the family Smile

Has your PCP ever even considered fibro? Have you every spoken to him about it? If he is anti-fibro then hopefully he will give you the referral like rayn said. Otherwise I would get a new doctor. You have alot going on and your really need a doctor that will listen to you and you need to have faith in him just as well. Lots of time, the things about fibro that can be most frustrating are a dx, a good doctor, the right meds and support.

You have all the support you need now that you've joined us, yes I'm bragging, we are awesome at supporting one another Smile

Now you need to try to work the rest out so you can begin to get your life back.

It's a pleasure to meet you and I hope you will stick around so we can get to know you better.

Hello shamarie,

Welcome to the best support group on the net !!! I m sorry you (think you might) have Fibro, tho'.

I think you need to have a serious chat with your PCP re: the possibility of Fibro and maybe get him to refer you to a Rhuemy that ""believes"" in Fibro so you will get the best treatment.

You say you ""believe"" you have Fibro ~~~ wouldn t you rather know one way or the other so whatever the problem is, you can be correctly dx d and treated ?

You will find all kinds of friendship, comfort and support from this group. We hope you will stick around so that we may get to know you better. Smile

Marilyn

Thank you all for the input. I actually had a visit with my pcp today, & she's on the same page as I am about fibro. She currently has a few pts that have been dxd with it & says they're doing great on their meds. We ARE working on a dx & she's been looking @different possibilities. My liver is enlarged for some reason so I'm extra cautious about what I take, & so is she. I try to be proactive when it comes to my health, as well as my childrens health. Often coming up with a dx b4 the docs do. Sometimes that's what it takes to get to where you need to be. She's checking things from head to toe, including scheduling a colonoscopy due to the fact that my father was dxd last year & cancer runs in my family. Once again, thank you all so much for your input & I will keep you updated!

Well that's a little scary! You really will have to be careful about your meds...for most of them if they don't affect your kidneys they do the liver. Sorry you're going through this and sorry you have to have the colonscopy. Had mine last year and hope to never experience that again!

Good luck with the testing. I hope everything turns out OK.
