Hi, I am new to this group. I was finally diagnosed with fibromyalgia, two weeks ago. I have done a lot of research and now feel I need to talk to people just like me.

I was in a car accident in 1994. I had a whiplash injury. Since then I my pain has increased and spread to my whole body.

I am a single mom and a student. I also became addicted to drugs and alcohol, trying to escape the pain.

I am so relieved to have a diagnosis. I have spent years with friends and family thinking it's all in my head. Even with the diagnosis, I know I will run into the same. The people really close to me have been very supportive.

Hello & Welcome.

When you get your diagnosis it feels like a weight has been lifted from our shoulders so to speak.

One good thing, you have support. I know there are those out there who doesn't have the support of family or firneds. You are fortunate in that respect.

Be wise and dignified like the swan: he maintains his composure, staying unruffled on the surface, while always paddling like crazy underneath.

Welcome to our group! I'm glad the people that are close to you are supportive. This is a wonderful forum filled with caring and knowledgable people, and there are also some of us like myself who are in recovery from alcoholism and drug addiction in addition to struggling with chronic pain, fibro, chronic fatigue, arthritis and other conditions. This is a safe place to vent and share your pain and your victories.

Welcome Soderlund to our little family of fibroites. Sorry to hear that the only escape from pain you could find was such a tough one. You will find lots of support here and the most amazing people. Feel free to cry, laugh, or whatever you need someone her will know just what you are going through and be there with advice or just a shoulder to lean on.
May the sun bring you new energies by day,
May the moon softly restore you by night ,
May the rain wash away any worries you may have,
And the breeze blow new strength into your being,
And then, all the days of your life,
May you walk gently through the world, and know it’s beauty and yours.
A Native American Blessing
