We have 3-4 dogs. We have a black lab/german shepherd Dakota who is 11 yrs old, a pound puppy, Annie, a 3 yr old registered golden retreiver I only say registered because she knows it,our son has a german shepherd/ black lab 15 mo puppy, Shadow who is with us while he is at work or on weekends when he cannot take her with him.{most of the time actually} and our newest addition a golden retreiver who came from a golden rescue she was in a kennel with 6 of her sisters for 5 months when the breeders husband said they either come and get them or they would be shot. She was so shy and afraid of everything when she got here and now Abby is starting to show her true colors what a gem she is turning into. A diamond in the rough. I always have my entourage with me and my husband always knows where to find me because there is a trail of toys and dogs where I am. I do so love them, would have alot more if I could. They have their own specialty of making me feel better and loved. Jean

Jean, you have chosen some of my favorite names. I tried to get my daughter to name one of my granddaughters Dakota but no dice. I did get one named Abby (nicknamed rather) so that of course is one of my fav names you have for your pets. Shadow is also another fav pet name I love. I am so glad to see how many of us have pets to brighten our lives. Several others have also chosen some of my fav pet names I wish I could have one more little doggie to go with my Jett but he's so spoiled and I live in such a tiny trailer, a second just doesn't work out though I have tried with pets that were in between good homes and had to have a place during the transfer.

Hi Everyone,

This is a great post! I too love animals To start with I have 1 little Maltese, his name is "Kalaber" He is so sweet. He sleeps with me when I need to sleep no matter how much, he follows me everywhere in the house, He lays in my lap every chance he can get. He loves it if he gets to me before my husband, not that he sits in my lap He also does tricks, "no, not my husband my Maltese: if you point at him and say "Bang" he falls down and rolls on his back with all 4 paws in the air, he also speaks, sings, and dances. And when my right arm is really hurting he licks it in the very spot it hurts. Also when I cry, not that I do that much he runs and jumps on me and licks my tears away. He is like the sweetest dog I have ever had.

I also have a beautiful dog that is part chow, coyote, and something else. She has a beautiful bushy tail with a white tip, the rest of her looks like a small german shepard. Her name is Kodiak and she dosen't like the UPS man, Schwan man, or the Ace Hardware man. I think its because of their uniforms. Did I forget the Milk man! Just Kidding. She is very protective of my granddaughter and me.

Then I have a bunny named Molly, she is white and tan and I put her harness on her and she gets to hop all over the yard.

I also have 2 ducks, Silly and Shy and 1 goose named Rupert. Rupert is my other watch dog

Then we also have a miniture pony named Scooter, a Bay Gelding named T-Bone, and a Brother and Sister Paints named Little Joe and Alley. Oh, and 5 fish.

Oh my Gosh I forgot Saffie Ann, my cat. Everynight when I go to bed she lays on my hip and if I turn over to my stomach she turns with me and lays on my back, and if Im to restless she finally settles down right next to me. Other wise shes very scarce and never comes out until its just my husband and I. But she is a sweetheart.

I also have taken to feeding all the birds outside and I have Mountain Bluebirds, Sparrows, Finches, Woodpeckers, Nut hatches, Doves, and many more....

So you see "I do love animals"

"Until one has loved an animal a part of ones soul remains unawakened" Anatole France

Maybe we should post pictures! Big Fun, Let me know!

Gee Kaze,

People thought I was Dr. Dolittle. I am down to only three or four dogs like I said last night but I am like you and have had all different animals through the years when the kids where home. We had a rabbit, two ferrets,a monitor lizard that is related to the komoto dragon which we donated to the CSU veternary hospital, a snake, and a couple of cats but we live in town so we could not have horses or goats etc. But I have nothing but love for furry family members they make me laugh, they make me relax and they just love you no matter if you are having a bad day or a good day. Every day is an adventure with them and I actually like them most days better then most people except my husband, kids, and grandkids. Ok some days I like them better then them also but the grandkids I always love them. Where did you get Kodiak? Jean

jgamble409, we got Kodiak in Deborgia Mt. Her father was full chow and mom was something else with coyote. I was afraid when we moved out on the acreage the coyotes would call her in to them but she could care less about them. Thank goodness.

When I was a kid, not to long ago This was in California, we had 9 fish tanks, possums, horny toads, ducks, dogs, cats, even black widow spiders for pets. I was pretty little then but it must have rubbed off. I just enjoy what they bring to the world. I think they are a big gift from God to us. Kaze

You guys are so lucky to be able to have so many loving pets. My dog roxy will lay in bed and sleep with me untill my hubby comes to bed. Sometimes she will try to jump back in after we are both back asleep but one of us usually wakes up and kicks her out. She is just too big to be in bed with us. We are both at least 6ft tall and our king size bed is barely big enough for the two of us.LOL

I wish we could get a cat though. I miss having them. We had two a few years back but one was peeing all over and we couldnt figure out which so we ended up having to get rid of them both. Even though they are clean we need to replace our recliner and sofa so new cats wont smell the urine and spray or pee there. I have heard they can still smell it even though its gone. Territory...

Sorry, I rambled on

foxyroxy,

You weren't rambling on.I really enjoy hearing about other peoples pets. I know what you mean when you don't have as many as you once did. My husband is allergic to cats but we had two until they passed on and then we found out he was allergic What a surprise! Your dog is so lucky to have you and a rotweiller is not a real lap and bed dog even though they think they are.

Why is it the bigger they are the more they want to be in your lap? Ours fight over who gets to be closer and then I'm the one who gets beat up. Aren't they wonderful Jean
