Thanks to everyone who shared with me regarding Fibro Fog.

I am having a sleep study done this Friday. I was wondering if anyone else has had this done and what the out come was.

This is where I am with all of this. I have recently had an MRI on my shoulder, a nerve conduction test and a complete blood test.

My doctor is telling me he thinks my pain is from not sleeping well and I think I don't sleep well because I hurt all night. I also recently have had restless legs really bad.

Is all this stuff part of getting a diagnosis? I have been doing my research and it seems to fit.

I have had two sleep studies done and I have sleep apena. They have me wearing a mask that is suppose to help me get a deep sleep but because of my restless leg syndrome I move all night and end up pulling it off. I really think that we do need a good night sleep because if I can wear my mask and take my meds for restless leg I do feel better in the morning and most of the day. It isn't too bad although I don't sleep good away from home and my own bed so I don't feel thatI really gave them an accurate test. You are hooked up to a machine so that the nurses can watch your body rhythms. My nurse felt sorry for me so she let me go home early to get some rest. Good luck and study hard. Jean

Hi angel,

I have never had a sleep study done. I already know I don't sleep well. (However, also know I don't have sleep apnea. It's only the pain that affects me) However, I know some others have. Maybe they will post later. I have also had MRIs of practically my whole body, nerve tests over whole body, tons of bloodwork - by several different doctors, heart workup, catscans, sonograms, etc. Yep all of these tests finally led up to a tender point test and more bloodwork and told I have FM, carpal tunnel, osteoarthritis, mild scoliosis.....

I finally had a rheumy diagnose me... hopefully you will find out more through your testing. Most of my testing was done just to rule out other conditions. There aren't really any specific tests for FM other than the tender point test and looking at your symptoms. Sorry you are hurting so much. Hope you find some relief soon! Red

I don'tknow because I'm also on a sleeping pill and I'm asleep They must because my husband is no longer complaining about my moving around all night. I do use the restless leg as part of my exercise program though, that way I know I have walked alittle bit. I really do think that they have helped in all honesty. I know that if they find out you have sleep apena and restless leg you will benifit from what they do to help you. Jean

Ok so from one of those with sleep apnea. Yes I have a CPAP machine too. I definately feel worse when I don't sleep with it. My pain levels increase. Many people with fibro have sleep trouble for some it is sleep apnea others may be the restless leg. there are actually several different sleep disorders and some people can have a combination. It can be a vicious cycle what came first the pain or the difficulty sleeping. I wish you luck with you test. It can be very overwhelming when they get you all hooked up just do your best to relax (haha). Come and visit us on the sleep apnea site. we have others from the fibro site there too. Good luck

I've had a sleep study and was diagnosed with mild sleep apnea. I wear a CPAP at night and 'can' tell a difference when I've not worn it.

People with fibro often suffer from sleep issues. I think that's pretty common. But I'm surprised he doesn't feel your lack of sleep isn't from pain as well. -Most of us with FM have lack of sleep from pain. Even though someone has a sleep issue, doesn't mean they don't have pain.

My pain is actually worse at night. The muscle spasms are worse too.

Maybe you already do this- but I would suggest a warm/hot bath before bed. It helps relax the muscles and releive the achy body. It works for me. Not everyone finds releif, but it's worth a try.

My husband has sleep apnea. He uses a CPAP machine. And it changed his life. He is hooked the machine. If we travel we take it with us. It made a HUGE difference in his life.

I also sleep with a CPAP machine. And it also made a huge difference in my quality of sleep. I'm also hooked on mine. We never leave home without them. If it even looks like we might stay somewhere the cpap machines are the first things loaded. I have what is called sleep hypopnea. I don't breath deep enogh, so therefore I don't get good O2 readings. So they put me on one to force oxygen into my lungs. Again like my husband - it made a huge diference.
