They both look like puppies but you say he is 8 years old at least. I have an 8 year old Aussie-Rottie mix and I love her to death. My hubby once said he never thought he'd see the day I'd love a dog until he bought me a Pomeranian but after he died the dog began peeing all over my house. (I just realized when he started doing that!) I finally gave him to a woman who said she had the time to train him. My Mabel is my companion and best friend now. She sleeps with, she lays outside the bathroom door when I am showering, she goes on walks with me without a lease. She is just so darned good and has never been trained. I don't know how to paste her photo in. Darn.

I believe Rottweilers, like Dobermans, have an undeserved reputation for aggression. They want so much to please you, and they are so smart they can easily figure out what you want. I once decided to see exactly how long it would take to teach Kaiser a new trick. I showed him what I wanted, said NO one time when he went wrong, showed him again and repeated the command, and he had it. About a minute and a half.

People always think Kaiser is a puppy. That's part of the problem. He is rowdy and playful. He jerked me this morning, when he saw another dog he wanted to be friends with, and that is not good for arms that ache and hips that hurt. Kiesha plays all the time, too, but she weighs about half what he does, so it doesn't get to me as badly. He is always winding the leash around me and pulling ahead as hard as he can.

He is perfectly trained to walk without a leash, but the neighbors here don't understand that I can control him better when he isn't wearing one. When I put the leash on him, he knows he is the strongest. If he decides to go to Dallas, we are going to Dallas. But the law is the law, and I won't take chances that he is reported and taken away just because I don't like to fight with the leash.

I think you need the Dog whisper Christine. I just love the Dog Whisper he is amazing with dogs.

My mom has a black lab that is strong as a Ox. No one can control him on a leash if he wants to chase a squirrel is going to chase a squirrel with or without you.

Its a good idea to start a thread about pets and maybe picture sharing. I have notice a lot of people like to post pics of there family or pets It would be nice to have a spot just for that.

Your right about Rotties getting a bad rep. I just love them... I wanted one but I think my house is to small for one. Plus they drool all over the place. Also your house Ins will go up if you own a Rottie or a Pit bull. That's how it is here in CT anyway.

I would be lost without my dogs I have 2 chi chi's and a wolf dog. I can't tell anyone what she is because they are illegal. I had a timber wolf Shepard mix and now I have a Tenn red wolf dog she is beautiful. My neighbors are always asking what she is I say huskie and something else. One of my neighbors knows because his sister has one too. But I told you guys shhhhh don't tell anyone. :}

Wendy

May God give you...For every storm a rainbow, for every tear a smile, for every care a promise and a blessing in each trial. For every problem life sends, a faithful friend to share, for every sigh a sweet song and an answer for each prayer.”

I met a woman at one of the highway rest stops, who was holding a gorgeous "dog" on a leash. Of course I was drawn to her, because it was unusual looking. This "dog" was a pure wolf. She and her partner have a resort where they have dozens of wolves, and people can go there for vacation, and they can have a wolf stay with them in their rooms. The wolf she had with her was the calmest, gentlest animal you could meet. He let me pet him and look at his paws without even shrugging, though he wasn't all gooey and needy about it, either. My Kaiser becomes ridiculously needy when a stranger pets him.

The woman said something about the paws being a way to distinguish wolves from dogs, but it's been a few years, and I can't remember.

Ignorance is the most harmful trait we humans have. We react more strongly to our ignorance and prejudices than we do to what's right in front of our noses.

I like the idea of including pictures. You can include them in messages, if you use "reply" and not the Quick Reply option. They have to be small, so it's best to use a screen capture to grab just what you want to put into the message. This is my grandbaby Ian. He hasn't started losing his baby teeth yet, but it won't be long.

He is so handsome. I had to jump in since we are talking about dogs. I have 4 dogs but babies are my 2 huskies. They will be 2 in Oct. They were abandoned in the town I work and live in and since I am took the call (I am a 911 dispatcher)and called the dog officer, I was able to get the puppies. They were 8 weeks old when we got them. All 4 of my dogs and my 4 cats are the love of my life and they keep me going everyday. My kids are 19 and 20 and don't need mom anymore.

I wish my grown children (40 & 37) would figure out the part about not needing a mommy anymore, but I don't think they ever really outgrow us. It's not the same, though, as the way our furry babies need us. When my Kiesha needs a cuddle, I think it does me as much good as it does her. I don't believe I have ever once thought about my aches and pains when I'm hugging my puppy baby.

Our kids love us and I'm sure they do their best to show it, but there's never any doubt with the fur-babies. Best medicine in the world.
