MDJunction to me

"All I can say is that this has been the best place ever. It has been six to seven months since I joined, and I have learned so much. I now believe in myself and accept myself on a completely different level. The people on MDJunction has been so supportive and accepting that I have been able to adopt it into my personal life. That has reduced a lot of stress in my life. Thanks to all." (bunnyfly)

Hi,

I'm new to the group. Normally I would try to ask some painfully normal question, but I've reach a tricky dilemna in my life and I need your help. I was wondering, do any of you out there have trouble with scalp sensativity? And if so, how do you wash your hair? I know this is a strange question. Up until now I haven't run into anything I couldn't simply wait out. Unfortunately, my head hurts so often now, there is hardly ever a good time to wash my hair. The pain drains me and by the time I get out of the shower I can hardly lift my arms. I'm not trying to complain. I know we're all in this boat together. Perhaps I can help one of you with something.

I would like to welcome you to the group. please dont ever feel bad about asking a question. We are all here to learn, teach, & give support to eathother.

For the most part I dont have much problem with my hair. But I have had times when it hurt my head to wash my hair. I dont know what to tell you. I am fortunate that it only comes and goes. So when I have the problem, I just dont leave the house.

If there is ever anything I can do to help, please feel free to ask.

Welcome to the group!! Sorry you are having so much trouble washing your hair. My scalp doesn't hurt when I'm washing my hair. My head will start hurting after I'm done brushing and drying it though. I'm not sure this is the same thing you are talking about. I cannot wear headbands or ponytails without expecting pain and a headache. I have longer hair and it's pretty heavy. It is helping my headaches along and I'm afraid I will have to cut it short soon! Oh well. I wish I knew a solution for you!!

Again, welcome....join in anytime, ask anything!! Red

Welcome to the "fibro-family"!You have joined with a great group of people! I also have a very tender scalp. If I absolutely have to leave the house i sprinkle a lot of powder into my hair and then fluff it up. It's not great but it's better than looking greasy Kathy

Welcome to the family. That is a "painfully normal" question. I have trouble some days lifting my arms to wash my hair, and some days my scalp just hurts too much. I used to wear my hair up in a braid or pinned up somehow and now I am lucky if it gets washed every other day. On the days I don't get it washed I just pull it back in a barrette and cll it done. Like the powder idea booklady14, I'll have to try that one.
May the sun bring you new energies by day,
May the moon softly restore you by night ,
May the rain wash away any worries you may have,
And the breeze blow new strength into your being,
And then, all the days of your life,
May you walk gently through the world, and know it’s beauty and yours.

Hi Irisheyes,

First, let me say welcome. I also have a tender scalp and my arms hurt when I raise them to wash my hair. I am down to every other day now and never blow dry anymore. I used to keep my hair in a nice style, but those days are gone. The only advice I can offer you is to be as gentle as you can. Have you mentioned this to your doctor?

Irisheyes, first of all let me say that I don't have trouble with my head hurting or washing and combing my hair except when I have had a bout of Neuralgia and then my scalp is sore to the touch.

Next I want to say that you've come to the best place you could be. the people here are so caring and supportive. So,
