I'm new at this; so please bear with me, but I came across this message board this morning and thought I'd give it a shot. I don't mean to sound "down", but after being in pain for so many years and going to so many Doctor's, after awhile, I do get tired of trying.

I have been to chiropractors, physical therapy, you name it and I still feel just about the same as I did when I started developing this stuff 10 years ago. There isn't one pill that helps and I do understand that a new one is on the market now, but I haven't tried it yet.

I worked for over 30 years as a machine operator in a factory and came down with lower back pain which extends down into my left leg. I went for "shots" which didn't do any good and also went for an injection in my sacroiliac joint, which didn't help either. I also have alot of problems with my neck and sometimes I feel like I have battery acid in my veins, where I just burn from head to toe. Nothing shows up on x-rays and I have quite a few of them and MRIs.

I had to quit my job in the factory because it just got to the point where I missed so much time that I was headed to get fired anyway, and then I started doing homecare as a CNA. This wasn't too bad on me physically, but once my client went into a nursing home, nothing else was available for me; so I had to head for one, too. The work is extremely physical and right now I am out for a few days because I strained myself helping an alzeimer patient, but I do plan in the future to return to an easier life in homecare.

Ever since the start of this muscular problem, I have been totally stressed; either worrying about what i am going to feel like tomorrow or wondering if I'm going to get fired from my present job. It sounds so heartless of me, but when i read about others going through the same thing that I am, it does, in some way, make me feel a bit better. I know there are people out there in worse shape than I am, but still, it is so good to have something like this where a person can "vent" at times feelings and emotions. I think, as humans, we need one another's shoulders to cry on.

All for now and if one person can respond to this message of mine, I would be totally greatful and I will try to keep smiling! S.

Working as a CNA is very stressful work, especially in a nursing home. You may want to find something different. Some hospital homecares use CNA'a to go go peoples homes and bathe and do other things for patients. It is still physical work, but at a little differet pace. The only drawback is that you have to drive between homes. If you like being a CNA, and you think you can continue doing it, please do. We need caring, loving CNA's that love their jobs and are good

to the residents . I know the work is really hard. Maybe it is too hard for you with the back problems and everything. Can you look for something else. I don't know where you live so I don't know how plentiful jobs are. Jobs are scarce where I live. I haven't been able to work for over 2 years but as you might have guessed, I was a nurse and I held my CNA in great esteem. I couldn't do without her/him. This is a good placae to post. We are conscious or each other and we care. There are wonderful people here. I hope I helped a little.

Yes it does get tiring both physically and mentally. I don't have any words of advice but I do have broad shoulders that you can vent on any time.

Hi Sincovit and welcome to our group. You will find a ton e of great people here. We all have fibro and try our best to do what we can . It's not always much some days, nut you have to learn your limitations. Some of us here still work and some are unable to because if the fibro pain and other conditions we mat have. Just know that you are not alone. We all vary in degrees with the pain and stiffness and other things, but don't give up and don't give in to it. Talk to your doctor and see what other meds are available to try and help you get some relief. And always remember , we are all here to talk to. We are all in the same boat. I am terribly sorry for the pain you are in .DON'T EVER GIVE UP TRYING! I believe that one day there will be something that will help us. I have heard a few people say that they got relief from Lyrica which is the newest drug available.

Hi and welcome to the group. I totally feel your paina s I too worked in health care for many years. I worked with physically handicapped adults and children and it can be very straineous on the back lifting them to bathe and for personal hygiene etc.

You have come to the right place for support. I am fairly new here, but I must say this is an awesome group of people that really honestly care about each other.

If you ever need a shoulder to vent on or lean on or whatever the case, I am here. Welcome again!

Gentle Hugs,

Annie

May the sun bring you new energies by day,
May the moon softly restore you by night ,
May the rain wash away any worries you may have,
And the breeze blow new strength into your being,
And then, all the days of your life,
May you walk gently through the world, and know it’s beauty and yours.

Sincovic, I think it's wonderful that you are able to continue to work. Is it possible to get into a different area of healthcare that wouldn't be as strenuous for you? Everyone of us here understands what you go through and if it helps you to come and talk, that's what we are here for.

Sincovic,

I am in the health care field also...I am an RN that works in Hospice and I do work only week ends which helps...I am an on call nurse. If I had to work 5 days a week doing aide work like I did for 6 years prior to my getting my degree as an RN I would not be doing it. So I know what you are going through....you are in my prayers. I do little physical work as possible....I still have to do some but not like when I was a home health aide. I just thank God every day that I can work and be able to keep our life style and insurance..etc... I am very lucky and I know it....I wish you all the luck in the world....Welcome to our family and welcome to our little group....

Big HUGS!!!!!!

Hugs,
Barb
