John Howard did say that somthing along those lines anyway, but the thing is he has stepped carefully around certain religous groups in this country which made a lot of people angry, espically australians who have fought under the flag for this country. It is so sickening to have to bow down to any group religious or otherwise,I say if you go to a new country then you adopt that countrys way of life, after all you were so happy to come why do we have to change for you.If I went to their country I would after all have to do things their way,I don't mean to offend anyone but it's time the government does what the people pay it to do govern.sorry didn't mean to go on.

I agree with you totally malaluka. At age 16, my Grandpap came to the USA from what was then Czechoslovakia. He moved to a Slovak community in Pennsylvania and learned to speak English. We used to ask about the "old Country" but all Grandpap would say was, "This is my country now". He was very proud of and loved his new country where his 11 kids could grow up free.

I am 2nd generation american my grandparents came over from Slovica and Poland my parents were 1st generation

all of my uncles and my father and brothere served for this great country and my son in law and neice and nephew are serving now an dI personally think that is is a crime when I call some place and hear" press one for English" I should not have to press anything for my native language in MY COUNTRY! it angers me greatly My family has fought in WW2 korea vietnam desert storm and enduring freedom and I wnat this country to finally wise up and change the comuter systemms that anser phones to "If you cant speak english press one to find out where you can learn to speak english then call back" I really believe that a language as well as s history test should be part of becoming and american and I also believe that there should be a time limit for becoming and american or you get kicked out. It is AMERICA love it or leave it butlately it seem slike its its american lets rape her... sorry if I have offended anyone it is justmy humble opinion....and not worth the paper it is written on

Thank you..... I agree 110% also.... I try not to use any one that in there phone message says to "press one for english"...

I hope everyone will tell these people that this is America...and we speak english here...if the person wants another language, make it so they have to press a button for there language...

A very PROUD AMERICAN...

Be careful what you wish for the world has come so far foward

that maybe the only way foward is back,so how far back do you

want to go?I don't know about the ins and outs of your country

but the problems in my country are caused by the people who have

been born here,I'm talking about all the different races that have come here in past years ,their children who were born in this country

and because of their birth are citizens of this country, they cannot

be sent back home simply because they are home.So they commit crimes, stir up trouble go to court maybe jail then get early release

and start all over again so tell me what do we do about thease people?

Thease people call themselves members of our society but still carry the traditions and beliefs of their parents country of birth, how do we adress that problem? To get back to the orignal subject we had 20mm of rain wich when you'r in the middle of a drought is most welcome.

Malaluka.

Janilee,it's really interesting when you start to look into peoples history,my fathers family came from new zealand, england and germany.

My mothers were danish, irish and scotish, her great great grandfather was sent to Australia from ireland for stealing lace so he came here on a convict ship of coarse the trip was free. And my danish relitives came out to avoid a war in europe and also to look for gold and they were quite succesful. They also never spoke of where they had come from and I really wish that they had because even though I was born here a part of their history is mine, having said that let it be known I do not wish to be involved in any of their countrys political aspirations.Hope your having nice weather there are you in spring or summer?

I personally am not offended when anyone shares their opinions. I thank all of the soldiers who served this country so we could enjoy the freedoms we do. My ancestry includes immigrants, and those who are indigenous to the country, I am proud to be an American and I am proud of my Scotch-Irish ancestry too. Like malaluka I don't wish to be involved in the politics of either of those countries. I don't suggest we send those who are citizens back to the country of their ancestry, only those who are here without benefit of citizenship or the proper visas. Malaluka, we are in spring here,or so we're told, one day it feels like summer and the next day it feels like fall.
May the sun bring you new energies by day,
May the moon softly restore you by night ,
May the rain wash away any worries you may have,
And the breeze blow new strength into your being,
And then, all the days of your life,
May you walk gently through the world, and know it’s beauty and yours.
A Native American Blessing
