I dont think lidoderm patches work as well. They only numb the muscles close to the skin's surface. They do nothing for deep pain. I use them, 3 at a time, for my neck and sholders. Most insurance charge a high co pay for these.

I see. I use them for nerve pain, so I wasn't sure.

Big difference in the medication. Fentanyl is much stronger. I use lidoderm patched without problems for paim but unfortunately I am allergic to fentanyl. I should have known, since it is in the demerol family. They work good for people who can use them though.

litaderm patches have numbing medicine like litacain

like novacain. the fentanal patches are a narcotic that gets absorbed into your skin and last for 3 days. the lidocain ones only numb the spot they are put.

Fentanyl patches were scary. I used them during the worst part of my Interstitial Cystitis (in remission now!) and the Fibro. I would awaken out of a really deep sleep with the feeling that I had not been breathing. I stopped them cold turkey because I was so scared. My pain doc (previous) didn't tell me I could have taken something for the withdrawal that came afterwards. AWFUL! Turns out, my previous doctor was a really bad one and didn't even look at medical records, complaints, drug interactions, etc... Needless to say, I changed docs and really love the one I have now.
