Why wear a ribbon?

MDJunction to me

"All I can say is that this has been the best place ever. It has been six to seven months since I joined, and I have learned so much. I now believe in myself and accept myself on a completely different level. The people on MDJunction has been so supportive and accepting that I have been able to adopt it into my personal life. That has reduced a lot of stress in my life. Thanks to all." (bunnyfly)

ihatetohurt, you get the swelling with the burning also? What do you do for it, if so?

I don't have the swelling that you refer to. I'm sorry that you do. It sounds very painful when your skin actually cracks open. I hope the cause can be found and you'll feel better fast.

Thank you for your concern. Luckily I don't swell that badly at this time. I was caring for my mother who was dying of cancer at the time my swelling was that bad. Thankfully, my sister was able to help the last few weeks while I got a bit of rest. I really needed the rest but now miss the time I could have had with my mom so much... but that's another story.

I get the burning in my shoulders, hand, and feet mostly in my toes. Sometimes I swell so bad i the hand that I have to take off all my rings. My doc says that the swelling and burning is a nerve reaction, whatever that means. I think of it as just more fun with fibro. Cold is never a good idea for me,my body doesn't tolerate cold at all due to other conditons I have. I take a warm bath and that helps somewhat. Sorry for the rambling I tend to wander around in my head alot, its foggy up there.
May the sun bring you new energies by day,
May the moon softly restore you by night ,
May the rain wash away any worries you may have,
And the breeze blow new strength into your being,
And then, all the days of your life,
May you walk gently through the world, and know it’s beauty and yours.

I also get burning in my ribcage and in my shoulder blades. The burning pain radiates down my back and sometimes I even feel it in my stomach. the burning pain is so weird, but I had a cat scan of my stomach done and everything looked fine. I also had a bone scan of my ribcage and that all looked normal too. It is so weird that we all have thi burning sensation.

I wonder if the swelling and burning being considered nerve reactions might be that the nerve ends are so sensitive from the "normal" pain we have with fibro and that something else steps in and sets them off also. I had just said a couple days ago that my swelling isn't as bad as it has been at times. Now from the tips of my toes to midway up my thighs are swollen. Around my toes are cracking and making blister like areas that pop open and then bleed. I have had my feet checked and it's not athlete's feet. The doctor said that with the amount of swelling I have, it's causing a "weeping" reaction and is pressing some type of fluids into small pockets like blisters and then they pop. I have to keep bandages and antibiotic ointment on these areas now. I sure hope this stops before it gets into the very hot days ahead.

I also found out that the veins on my back that one doctor said is varicose veins isn't, but are similar. I thought perhaps I could have them stripped to relieve some of the pain between my shoulder blades but he said the type I am having doesn't cause pain, it's all due to the fibro. Oh well, at least I know it's not another procedure to go through.

wow I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE. I 2 experience numbness, tingling, pain and a burning sensation I get all those symptoms in my shoulder blades. I also get numbness and tingling in my right side of my back. So far I have not got the burning or pain on that right side (except in the shoulder area)

2 years ago I was the first time I felt this feeling in my back. I was at work and I lifted a window. (I make windows) since that time it has went off and on with the numbness always in the same spot. It never hurt or anything....I did mention this to my dr but I did tell her there was no pain.(at that time) I did have a increase in migraines. But that I do want to look into the numbness part. well she had me get a mri of my neck (I was complaining that during my migraines my neck had also hurt upon waking up) (awake with migraine 4-5 times a week)(some lasted 2 or 3 days long) Now since march 24 2008 I have experienced this pain in my shoulders along with this burning feeling. I did have 2 days where it didn't hurt as bad and was a little tolerable. But now it is starting to hurt real bad yet again. My boyfriend even went and bought me a massage chair and got me 30 min of water therapy at the gym. I have used the heating pad and takin my pain pills for this. (the pain pills only take the edge off) (Dr won't give me anything stronger) My kids have even massaged my back. But it keeps coming back How do you get rid of this. I hate it!!!! Has anyone had a test or something so the dr can see what is going on? Please help

Lisa

I hsve the same pain and the only thing I have found that relieves it slightly is heat and message. The doc can't explain it except thit is from the fibro. Big help huh? Hopefully someone else has had better luck with a doc.
